I bought a ticket ahead of time since I was coming in from out of town and my friend was in the company. My plane was delayed and I called to let Will Call know I could be late. Upon arrival I was denied seating to my originally seat since they do not allow late arrival. When I was at my seat in the balcony and settled approximately 10 minutes later an usher came to review my ticket. They noted I was in the wrong seat and when I explained to them I arrived very late to the show they proceeded to kick me out. The usher said I was displaying “drunken tendencies” such as I was unable to walk, hold a conversation, or display an interenernce in the performance. When I was shocked and bewildered by these acucations they proceeded to claim I was unfit for theatre. I showed them my plane ticket to prove I was late for a theatre for a reason. Nick the security supervisor was extremely rude and kicked me out. He proceeded to stop me along the way of exiting and explain to every employee I was a security risk and shouldn’t have been remitted into the building. Once the show was over I waited outside for my friends and he told me I couldn’t gather on a public side walk. He let all of my friends out of the same door once he realized who I was with he apologized and said I was more than welcome to come back into the house and congratulate my friend who was in the show. I of course refused and said I was fine to wait outside for my friends to come out of the exit. The security and the ushers at this theatre are so unprofessional and on such a power trip they I refuse to see any other show at this theatre, especially if you’re flying in to support a friend...
Read moreIt's a lovely venue. I saw Beetlejuice there with my 12 year old last weekend. The prices for ( soft)drinks were reasonable. Acoustics are great. I also saw Beatles Rain with friends a couple of years ago. It was VERY hot in there at that show and cool at Beetlejuice. It's hard to figure out what to wear, so just wear layers. The only REAL issue I had when we went to see Beetlejuice was it clearly states that they may place seating holds if you arrive late. However, the show has been going for approximately 10 minutes, and a stream of people were allowed in to find their seats. Many with drinks in hand, so they MUST have been there in time, just at the refreshment bar. They blocked the stage for a few minutes because, obviously, it was dark WHILE the show was going, so they were befuddled trying to grope around to find their rows. Most people arrived in time to not have this issue. If people don't make it to their seats before the show, the seating holds SHOULD be enforced. The view of the people in front of us and behind us were also blocked for several minutes. It's really not fair to people who adhere to the seating before the show "rule." Although, it seemed to be more of a suggestion than a rule. I can't fully put the blame on the ushers, I'm sure they didn't want a confrontation, and you never know if some people will cause one. Overall it's a beautiful venue and I do recommend it and will go to more shows there. I just wish the seating hold...
Read moreWe love having this off-Broadway option in our city! Been able to see a lot of fantastic performances, like Hamilton. Next year, Dear Evan Hansen! My only gripes are that the seats can be a little uncomfortable after two hours or so, and the sound sometimes leaves a little to be desired up in the balcony, but I am unsure if that is the fault of the auditorium, or of the performing company's sound system. Not sure who really takes the blame for that. Hamilton's sound was perfect but during School of Rock we couldn't make out any dialogue for the first half at all.
General notes: The bathrooms can get miiiighty backed up at intermission, but the ushers in there are great at hustling folks into empty stalls.
The stage and lights are always perfect, and honestly, the sign language interpreters are fun as hell to watch!
Food and drink are fairly reasonably priced, and they take cards.
Parking is decent, we usually use one of the surrounding lots and never have to be there more than a half hour ahead of time, even for Hamilton. They do offer prepaid parking in their lot to subscribers at $10/show.
It would be nice if some tickets could be more affordable for lower income families to be able to expose their kids to these shows. Theater is for everyone!
All in all, I love the Aud and the staff is always great. It's a treasure right here in our city that I'm happy to see so many taking...
