2025-MARCH:
Public Provisions 45 Public Market, Rochester, NY 14605 public-provisions.com
Review by Kevin Beckford
Public Provisions continues to impress with its great service, cozy ambiance, and seriously delicious food.
Today, I tried two breakfast sandwiches--because sometimes one just isn't enough. First up was a buttery, lightly toasted croissant with egg, cheese, and bacon. The second was a flaky buttermilk biscuit, also toasted and buttered, filled with egg, cheese, and sausage. I added a side of grape jam to both sandwiches (trust me on this one), and the sweet-savory combo was spot on.
I paired the meal with a glass of fresh orange juice, and it hit the spot.
This has been my go-to place for breakfast sandwiches on the weekend, but today I decided to stop in during the week--and I'm glad I did.
The weekday vibe is a little quieter, making it a great spot to get some work done. A few folks had their laptops open and AirPods in, attending Zoom calls. I was able to catch up on emails and correspondence without distraction.
The service is consistently fast and friendly, and there's something about the food that makes you want to peek into the kitchen to see if your mom is back there cooking up your childhood favorites.
Public Provisions is more than just a breakfast stop--it's a comfort food haven with a modern, relaxed vibe. Highly recommend.
2024-APRIL:
I had a wonderful experience at the Public Provisions after seeing Michele Ashlee-Meade’s work at the The-Yard-Collective tonight.
Caitlin took great care of me 💙 I tried the Mando salad, Crispy chicken circle. It was absolutely delicious !! I have come here before for breakfast (which is also wonderful) but this is my first time for dinner. The Food was fresh, tasty and good portions.
Thank you Caitlin, I appreciate you taking the time to educate me on the menu and for making this a wonderful dining experience 🙏🏾💙🙏🏾
The Chicken Circle included greens, and butter potatoes. “Unbelievable” is the only word I can think of. I couldn’t eat all of it so I took some home for a snack tomorrow. Like I said, in the review, great portion size.
This Mando salad was delectable 😋 I could have had it for a meal it was...
Read moreMy husband and I went for the first time for breakfast earlier today his week. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. I ordered the quiche which came with a fresh salad. I also ordered a side of breakfast potatoes. He ordered a breakfast burrito and a side of fries. The quiche seemed under cooked, it was very giggly and watery when I cut into it with a fork. So I asked to have it cooked longer. After 15 minutes or so it was brought back to the table. Still the same issue. But then I tasted it because I was hungry and I reasoned maybe this is how they make their quiche. The waitress said that it always looked that way. So I tried it, it tasted sour, smelled foul and the texture was extremely mushy. At that point I decided I wasn’t going to eat it. The salad that it came with was delicious and had a tasty dressing. The potatoes I ordered looked like it was cooked a few days ago and then refried. They also tasted sour and unappetizing. My husband had those same potatoes in his burrito. He enjoyed parts of the burrito that didn’t have the potatoes. He didn’t finish it. We ate his fries together which tasted okay. I left very disappointed.
I got a spinach croissant from the bakery inside so I didn’t leave hungry. The croissant was perfect. We will definitely never come back for breakfast but may consider trying the Ramen on...
Read moreAlright so let's start this! My mother and I left an honest review for your business and the owner Keith completely disrespected her. After viewing multiple heal code violations (Cross contamination, not washing hands between tasks or wearing gloves, as well as handling fully cooked meat with out gloves after being in a sheet rack tray, bacon greece being spilled on the floors, and explaining about cross contamination to vegetarians or other people with dietary restrictions/allergens) we received a completely nasty response from the owner Keith ( hey Keith. Nice day we're having right?) stating in his response and I quote "I hope you are the one that gets sick and it is excruciating" Keith, that's a very nasty thing to say. I've been a chef for over 15 years, managed several restaurants and you seem like you're having a temper tantrum because someone calls you out on how you can do better. You represent this business and should pride yourself in this. Lose the arrogance and humble yourself, work to do better rather than bash new patrons for seeing serious issues right from the get go. These are major red flags that should be addressed. Please do better going forward. Your kitchen will seriously hurt someone. Do...
