TLDR: Four stars for food, one star for service. I won't be returning to this location because the food is not as good as other places with way better customer service in Rochester.

This was my first experience here, so I called a half hour ahead to order take out. The line was busy. I tried again about 15 mins out, and then 10 mins out. Never answered. I got there thinking I'd go in and order and hopefully the wait would be around 20 minutes like every other tasty Thai place in Rochester. I called once more, got through, was placed on hold for ten minutes, and then was told the wait was going to be 45 minutes after that. I was also quite bluntly interrupted while ordering that the spring rolls were out of stock. After waiting almost an hour, I walked in with only one other person (they were not busy) and the guy at the register was on his phone. Eventually I got served and left a small tip, but almost to the door I realized there were no utensils in the bag. I had to go back and ask for them. This seemingly lazy service was already kind of putting a damper on date night and my opinion of the place.

The food was good. The most positive aspect of the Spicy Thai Beef Noodle dish that I ordered was the freshness and quantity of the variety of vegetables. Not one veggie was overcooked or undercooked. Those who really enjoy their veggies cooked in this way will really appreciate this dish. The flavor was tasty but not as good as some other locations in Rochester. There was just the right amount of sauce and the spice levels were perfect for a good build-up. My only complaint is the salt; I think a little less salt would go a long way.

The food was worth the one time visit. That's...

I found out about this place when I picked up an order via one of the major delivery apps. I was impressed that they had food ready to go when I arrived. (This has been the case every time I have picked up orders from here, about 5 times). I was also impressed by the decor of the restaurant. It has a very sleek and clean atmosphere. It looks like a restaurant that you would find in one of the bigger cities (i.e., Chicago) or more upscale areas of Monroe County.

I was so impressed, I decided to have dinner there last week. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Their menu was straightforward and easy to read. They had a variety of options. yet they didn't have too many options to overwhelm the customer. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food came within 15 min. of sitting down.

I got the Udon noodles and the Gang Keow Wan. Both dishes lived up to the hype that the decor, friendliness, and speed of service hinted at. Both dishes were delightful and tasty. The Udon noodles were quickly devoured. Soy sauce based dishes are generally not my go-to dishes. This dish exceeded my expectations. Everything was flavorfully well balanced. The Gang Keow Wan had a kick to it but did not overpower the flavors, which were on point, in the dish. (This is coming from a person who doesn't eat spicy dishes on a regular basis)

Overall, it was a great experience. In the current economic climate, I felt like I got my money's worth for a top-notch dining experience. I hope to visit this...

Delicious!!!! A friend and I went here for my birthday and it did not disappoint! I have to eat gluten free so Thai is a go to of mine.

She ordered the Panang curry with tofu and I ordered the curry rice with chicken (both level 3 spice and it was spicy!) both gluten free!!!

The food was seasoned sooooo well! The salt was right and the taste was incredible! Some of the best curry in Rochester!!

I returned shortly and ordered takeout for my family. We got the pad Thai and other fried rice (Thai and pineapple fried rice). Honestly the pad Thai and other fried rice were not as good as the curries. Also ordered gluten free and had no reaction.

I also ordered the mussaman curry and Panay curry again, both incredible!!! The curries at Khong are their shining dishes!

Park might be a challenge when you go. There’s a small lot and street parking, but my friend and I were able to find parking no problem.

The restaurant is small, but they have table and bar seating. The service was friendly and timely.

I highly recommend ordering the curry and I can’t wait to try other items...

Update in October 2024: We went again for takeaway. We ordered the same things but were disappointed that it was not as good. Maybe it was an off day, maybe its better to eat in, or maybe quality has gone down. Portions were still big though. Review in March 2024: We went for lunch on a weekday. It was busy so we had seats at the counter. We ordered fresh shrimp roll, chicken pad khi mou, eggplant, shrimp lad na & mango sticky rice. We were kindly given fried veggie spring roll on the house. We requested the pad khi mou & eggplant & ladna to be spicy 3-4 fists, and it was sufficiently hot. Temperature wise all dishes came out piping hot. All mains were generously portioned, lots of chicken/ shrimp & veggies which were fresh & well cooked, well seasoned. I enjoyed the veg spring roll more than the fresh one. The mango sticky rice was disappointing though. Rice gluggy & very little mango. Service was fast & attentive. There was a surprise lunchtime discount of $5 on each main. We were full & had plenty leftovers. Would come again but perhaps a little before lunchtime rush.

We had shrimp spring rolls with peanut soy dipping sauce. Generous amount of shrimp, would have preferred chopped Napa cabbage instead of the shredded iceberg, but still very good, could taste the cilantro and slivered carrots. The shrimp dumpling soup was also a generous amount, adding squid to it made it a meal. The Pad Prikam ordered with lightly fried tofu and 3 fists hot (the normal level of heat is one fist) was just the perfect level of heat to keep me warm and happy. Yum. Red Chili Paste Sauce was so good that I even ate some of the green beans. My dining companion stole the remaining sauce to spice up his chicken satay appetizer. The hot sauce offered to the side of the pork dumplings also had some nice heat and the dumplings were very tasty. Thai iced coffee was sweet and dessert-like. There is parking between China Garden and Coulter's, but also street parking. Will definitely pick up or eat in again. Nice fresh decor, on the small side. They do have 2 TVs in the seating area.
