Lucky's is literally one of my newer favorite restaurants and bars in Rochester. The food is always fantastic and great quality, and everyone working there is wonderful. They have a lovely quirky yet classy vibe, the dimmed-light ambiance is perfect for a cute date at their full bar or celebrating something special with a group on the dining side.
They have a rotating menu with both favorites that stick around and seasonal items that change frequently enough to keep you coming back. Their vegetarian dishes are fresh and light, really showcasing the unique flavors of what's in season. Their meats are usually high quality, cut very well, with steaks cooked to order. You can't go wrong with their market steak and lamb shank dishes.
Order their home-cut fries with the steak and try their Lucky sauce! We love to share this one too if we want other things off the menu. The curry chicken wings are also muah delish. Love the sauce paired with them. I'm not sure if they still have the Chicken Nuggies (handmade chicken nuggets) those are a fave too. And last but not least their desserts are always on-point, like their current sweet-yet-tart strawberry rhubarb cheesecake.
One of the highlights of the whole experience, I think, is when you get a chance to chat it up with their head bartender and the other gals and girls who stir and shake it up, making mystery drinks that surprise your tastebuds or keeping it cool with an old goody. They have all sorts of spirits and mixers, making for a really fun craft cocktail experience if you're open to try new things.
I can't say more wonderful things about this restaurant. They've done such a great job here, and I hope you give them a try!
P.S. There is parking and some outdoor seating, with a few restaurants across the street giving it a little Park Ave #2 vibe! You do want to go with plenty of time before the kitchen closes if you want food as sometimes it does get busy, especially on a weekend. Order extra to take home with...
Read moreActually meant to grab lunch at the bar across the street but they were closed.. and so glad that was the case! They were slammed when we walked in at noon on a Sunday with no reservation during their brunch rush... We walked in right behind another party, but the hostess noticed that my mom is on oxygen and so very solicitously spoke with the party ahead of us and asked if they were okay if she let us cut the line. (!) (To be clear, we didn't ask for this favor, the hostess just had the sense to see that that would be the kind thing to do and took it upon herself to manage it. Our server was equally gracious!) That alone would have been worth me taking the time to leave a great review, but then the food, cocktails and service were all outstanding as well. My husband got the steak and eggs, which was not only ginormous, but perfectly cooked. I was jealous until I bit into the pub Burger, which has now ruined me for all other burgers. I assumed the "Lucky's Sauce" was the ketchup/mayo combo you find most places, but if it was they add something else that gives it a little bit of a zing that tops off the perfectly cooked burger with the perfect amount of enhancement. I could go on and on. We were there in the middle of a busy brunch and it was boisterous and loud - but not enough that it was difficult to hear each other. (I HATE going someplace where you have to shout to be heard, it just absolutely ruins things for me. At full peak volume it was clear we were sitting in the middle of a packed restaurant filled with happy tables, but at no point was it irritating or distracting. 💕) In short, I'm so glad the place we had intended to go was closed, I will definitely be recommending this place to family and friends alike! (We got the steak and eggs, pub Burger, French omelette with a side of toast, a bloody Mary, and two other cocktails that I forget the name of.. despite multiple...
Read moreFirst time here after following online for a long time. We had an early reservation last night after attending the Hamilton matinee (love they are open on Sunday). Parked in the back lot although street parking was available. Warm inviting space with a beautiful bar, our bartender told us it was his first night but he was great. One cocktail took a while to make. We went to the hostess and were seated right at 5:30, our reservation time. I loved where our table was, near the kitchen. I hated the napkins to be honest...they were frayed and left lint all over my clothes.
Our server, Jack was outstanding. Jack loves his job, he knows how to upsell without being pushy. I was surprised we did not need to place the entire order at once. This allowed us (4) to discuss what we all wanted.
Apps: 2 lamb kabobs, delicious. Heavily seasoned but really good. One order of the curry wings, so good. One beet and radicchio salad which looked beautiful but was too acidic.
Entrees: the Sunday special (meatloaf) was delicious. Loved the popover and the roasted cauliflower. One chicken sandwich, one burger and the confit chicken. The chicken was amazing, confit in beef fat, skinless with roasted brussels sprouts with bacon, it was the best dish we had. The chicken sandwich was good, loved the sauce. The pub burger was disappointing tbh. I thought it may resemble the Good Luck burger- it did not. Smallish, overcooked and bland. (Sorry)
We will be back. If I did not live an hour away this spot would be on rotation for sure. Thanks for a...
