DeMatteo's — Restaurant in City of Rome

Traveling from out of town for work. On a Monday night myself and 5 coworkers went in at 8:45pm for dinner and drinks. The place was very clean and well lit. Approximately 10 people in the restaurant with 4 being served at the bar. We were met by a waitress, I asked if the kitchen was still open she replied “It opens at 9pm for burgers and chips only. You are welcome to wait for 15 minutes.” The bartender then said “it’s ok order what you want, except salads or cold cuts.” We asked for the food and alcohol to be on separate checks. At that point we were told they only accept cash.(Which was ok, we just were unable to use the company credit card for our meals.) We decided to stay and they crew ordered a southwest burger (medium), 4 southwest chickens sandwiches and a chipotle chicken sandwich. We then ordered beers and they were out of glasses,(with only 16 people in the establishment) One of us was lucky got a chilled glass and the rest of us got solo cups. While cooking our meals, the hostess/cook/bartender informed us that she messed up the chipotle chicken and made it to be southwest. (The person who was receiving it said “that was fine and it wasn’t a big deal and just finish it that way.”) During the time we were waiting the owner and another bartender were very unpleasant, they stood in-front of us sitting at the bar, while sorting out a register problem. They were rude to the hostess/cook/bartender that was helping us, about not turning down the lights properly. Once we received our food... the burger was cooked medium well and instead of the southwest mayo there was a raspberry mayo on it. All the chicken sandwiches were cooked through but all had the same raspberry mayo. One also had two top buns and another two bottoms. At this point we didn’t want to hang out for things to be recooked... (Other than the raspberry flavoring the food was good.) We decided that we would finish our beer and Pay our tab in cash. (Luckily there was an ATM in the bar..$3 sure charge.) We completely understand that places have “Off Nights” but we would all NOT recommend going there if this is a usual thing. We left and went to Applebee’s to enjoy some more adult beverages and appetizers. They lost out on us sticking around and spending our out of town money in a local...

Visited one of our favorites places for a burger on December 31st about 12:30. The food is always exceptional along with the service but not on this occasion. Our waitress Hannah was without a doubt one of the rudeness individuals I’ve ever encountered. Upon arrival she simply tossed menus on our table and kept walking to the next table. After quite a wait she came back for drink orders. After ordering and receiving our food two out of the six orders were completely wrong. My father tried to get her attention and she simply kept walking. Her next trip into the back room he was able to alert her that he received an Eastside burger but ordered a bacon cheeseburger. Her response “yeah ok” and kept walking leaving the burger there on the table. At this point I got up to use the rest room only to see her standing at the bar texting on her phone. I couldn’t even believe it. Her next time in the back room he again said something as she states “yeah I know.” Well if you know why are you leaving the incorrect burger sitting there and not at least advising us that they are working on making the correct burger. Finally after all this my father receives the correct burger. My mother’s burger arrived about 5 minutes after all ours did so we waited till hers arrived to eat. Her burger arrives and is incorrect! So rather than deal with everything my father had just dealt with, she just ate something she didn’t order. I had never seen this waitress before but she had absolutely no personality at all and was extremely rude. Thinking she may have just been having a bad day I reached out to others that dine there frequently. All have had similar...

Our food was good, but they seemed very short on help and I think our server was very new. We sat in the room off of the bar as the weather was bad, so no outside seating. The TV was blasting some dude talking about the sports draft that NO ONE trying to eat was interested in. When I asked the server to please either turn it down or off... she managed to make it louder and gave up. ☹️ This, along with very loud music from the bar area, did not make for a pleasant atmosphere for dining/conversation. Food took forever but was good once it arrived. I noted some serious confusion at another table over who ordered what and a couple wrong orders went back to the kitchen... Then it was time for our bill, and we were overcharged for one item enough that we did call attention to it and asked for a corrected bill. I think our server was just very flustered. This was on Memorial Day and many restaurants were closed, and she appeared to be the only server present. We've been here before and had good food and good service. They have very nice outdoor patios when the weather is good, and we had our corgi grandpups with us at our first visit and they were allowed on the patio and a water bowl was brought to us for them. I think our recent visit was just an off day and we will go here again...
