I bet the (new) store is nice, but I take great exception to the idea of taking a store located within city limits located on the city's busiest and most transit accessible streets (with buses arriving and departing sometimes less than every 10 minutes) and "moving" it to a location outside the city which is far less pedestrian friendly and located on a single bus line which comes once an hour. I, and thousands of my neighbors depended on the State Street location for years, and I bet few of us (most likely none of us) will bother with that hourly 351 bus and go all the way to Rotterdam. In a time where food deserts and access to healthy food for people who don't have access to personal vehicles are getting more attention than ever, I think Aldi made a bad move by creating a food desert in this area. Elderly people are not going to take that walk, and people with children in tow are not going to take that walk. I really hope that Woodlawn Plaza is clever enough to find another grocery tenant that could fill this...
Read moreI hate this ALDIs. It could have been something spectacular but it’s a waste of space. It’s ALWAYS packed except 15 minutes before closing. They never have more than one cashier and the line will literally be down the aisle before one of misc workers will open another line. The stuff they sell in there is inferior to the other ALDIs. They barely have anything and when they do it lacks in quality.
I try to go there because it’s close and wanting to support my immediate local businesses but I’ll just travel the distance and go one of the others. I hate this...
Read moreAldi is my favorite, I have always been a fan and normally pick them over other stores. That being said I have not had great experiences the last two times. Although I understand being busy and in a rush the workers have been rude throwing the stuff in carts, pulled the cart away from my daughter who has a disability and has to use the cart or walker for assistance. When I addressed the issue I was giving an attitude and told we need to keep the line moving. Not the kind of customer...
