We have been going here since 2013. The food is always consistent. The food selection is small, however the big tex/mex places have big menus but just mix and match the same 3 or 4 things that Steve's has. So the menu is simplified for us Irishmen. In a nutshell, you choose the stuffing (chicken, pork or beans) then you choose how to fill up the rest of your plate with either rice, beans or veggies, or any combination. THEY SERVE FOOD ONLY ON THURS./FRI. THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH. There is an ATM on site. Both my kids love going there. They get the cheese quesadilla. The restaurant accommodates about 30 people total. The server, Kathy, is great. The cook, Dave, sometimes comes out and chats if its not too busy. It is funny that we see the same people when we go there, and it is obvious when people go there for the first time. UPDATE: Dave, (previous cook) My family misses you. We have been going here since before my kids were born. You always hugged both my kids ... and my wife... I have played a few important gigs with you. You are remembered. Thanks to Mr. Walker for continuing!

A local gem hiding right on the corner of Hamilton and Milton. It doesn't seem like much, but inside you'll find all you could ever want. Cold drinks at the bar, your friendly cook Dave who greets you with the shake of a hand, regulars who've been coming for years and the best Mexican food in the area! Dave cooks for who comes, be sure to bring cash and a hungry belly. My only regret is not knowing about this place sooner and you can bet I'll be back soon! "You won't leave hungry!"

I was driving back to Canada from DC, stopping at Steve's for a dinner. The food is very delicious, cajun shrimps are flavorful and baby ribs are tender. Really great price, hospitable and accomodating service. Definitely a hidden gem in Syracuse. I recommend stopping at Steve's place if visiting Syracuse or around.

Place was almost empty (some people were at the bar) on a Fri night but we stayed anyway. Beer was good and reasonably priced although food took a little while to arrive. One of the chicken tenders was raw but we didn't notice until biting into it since it was covered with breading. Server took it back after we complained and we waited another 8-10 min for a replacement while the rest of us ate. French dip was cold inside but otherwise cooked and reasonably tasty. I get that the place is casual but the server wore rubber gloves while serving us which made it seem like maybe he also mopped the floors, cleaned the kitchen, cooked the food and then served it. Nice dive-bar ambiance if...
