Napoli's Italian Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in City of Utica

I have been coming to this bakery for 62 years i used to come with my grandparents when i was a little girl every Sunday after church. I make all of the same recipes as my grandparents and in order for the recipes to taste the same i need to buy the same ingredients i have moved out of the area many years ago, my parents used to have cheese and bread shipped to California for 10 years until we came back to the east coast. I now live close to Boston and i have been all over the North End ( the Italian section) and i can't find the same Pecorino Romano cheese so i make the trip to Utica at least twice a year to get cheese and bread as there is no other place like Napoli's. My travel is 5 hours one way but it is so worth it. Their tomato pie is the best as i get that also. i have tried other places in Utica for cheese, bread and tomato pie but they can't compare to Napoli's. The best tomato pie period. Cooked perfectly on the bottom and a tremendous sauce finished with salty grated cheese. A very simple tomato pie that relies on good ingredients and tradition for its flavor not overly seasoned like their main competition. They also have the best cold cuts their salami is the bomb and they cut it thin so it melts on the tongue. Very good rolls never disappointed with the sausage roll great fresh bread to take your sandwich to the next level or to eat by itself.
