Thoroughly surprised and impressed with this hidden gem in an industrial part of town! Superb food (esp. the main dishes) , nice price, and great service in a family dining room kind of environment. It looks like they have a daily menu of specials, as we were handed a special menu for the Sunday that we visited. I ordered the stuffed trout, which everyone else shared a mouthful or two, with exclamation marks in their feedback. The carnivores ordered baby goat stew, steak on a hot stone and chicken with mushrooms - they all looked very impressive, and were given top-notch reviews. I don't eat meat, but I trust my fellow diners' taste :-). Even though we were stuffed after consuming the generous portions of the main course, we didn't want to miss their unique desserts, with just enough stomach space to share two. The only pity was their side dishes (included with the main) - they looked and tasted too much like an afterthought. The mains are gourmet tasting, while the sides are bland and uninteresting. Well, this funny phenomenon didn't dampen our enjoyment. We will for sure come...

Terrible experience, first we were the only ones in the dinning area, so apparently they had the heat off, it was very cold. Next the waitress who was also the bartender, and busboy asked what we wanted to drink. She then brings the drinks and bread. But no plates or butter knife to eat the bread on so we ate it on the placemats. After her not returning we go up to the bar and tell her we are ready to order. She comes back takes our order. Then disappears again we had to go back to the bar when we wanted more drinks. I ordered rare steak on the stone and it arrived well done. I told her this was way over cooked so within 5 minutes they basically brought me a raw steak. It was literally cold in the middle. Just a bad experience will never go back. Much better off going to the Portuguese place on Lockwood, they have good food and good service and more than one employee...

This is meat, fish, rice and potatoes kind of place. The bar is full of working men, from various trades. Almost all the customers are native Portuguese. Food is fine and authentic; well priced, fresh and good portions. Owner, staff and the locals are all friendly. There is a downstairs dinning room, so if you are a family, on a date or don't want to rub elbows with the locals then the dinning room is for you. Steak on a stone, fish of the day, garlic shrimp, flaming Portuguese sausage, and drink the local house wine. If your waiter is Victor then you have met a rare bird; a professional waiter. He's been there for 25 years. Tell him 'Barry' sends his regards. Not fancy but good basic ethnic food and you don't have to take out a bank loan to eat there. The owner is also a great guy. They prefer cash but you can use a credit card if you have forgotten how to get or use...

Very odd place to have a restaurant (very quiet & residential) but you walk in to what seems like a dim old man's wine bar in Europe. As you circumnavigate the bar the dining tables are to the back. There is an outdoor deck which was closed for winter. The start you off we some delicious mix of olives and bread. The bacalhau asado was so good! We also enjoyed the chouriço which comes engulfed in an alcohol induced flame to the table. There is a full bar, wine, and a few common light lager bottled beers on the list.

We ordered paella, chicken, and ribs from Chaves for our office, and everything was absolutely excellent! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The paella was packed with delicious seafood and authentic flavors, and the chicken and ribs were juicy and tender. Everyone in our team loved it! A special thanks to Mr. Días for his excellent service—he was very professional and attentive. We highly recommend Chaves for any event or gathering. Thank you for the amazing meal!
