Mesa Maya — Restaurant in City of Yonkers

We came for HAPPY HOUR which includes $2 tacos, half priced margaritas. The tacos were good, the guacamole tasted like they used avocados that were not ripe, the guac was unseasoned and the drinks were okay. The bartender with the curly hair was a sweetheart (wish I knew her name). However, the female server with the glasses and black hair lacked communication. Upon receiving the bill, we noticed we were charged full price when my friend and I specifically went for HAPPY HOUR. The server explained to us that we weren’t “specific enough” when placing our orders and that we should’ve said “$2 tacos” if that’s what we wanted. We specifically said we did not want a meal, we wanted tacos from HAPPY HOUR- we said from the beginning that we were ordering from the HAPPY HOUR menu. In the end, they did compensate the guacamole but the server said “they didn’t have to” but the guacamole wasn’t good so they did have to. We explained several times we were ordering from HAPPY HOUR but she did not empathize. It’s sad because we enjoyed the tacos (which is why I’m rating them 2 stars) but the service, and guacamole was terrible. We are NOT returning to this restaurant. For future customers, HAPPY HOUR IS 10p-12a (when we went) and be specific when you order from HAPPY HOUR menu...

Really not a good experience here at all tonight. As the comment right below came for cinco de mayo and wanted a couple drinks and food. We ordered steak nachos and a couple of taco entrees. The drinks took forever and the food had been about an hour. We at least wanted a second round of drinks while waiting for food but after about 15 - 20 more minutes of waiting (just for the second round of drinks, which when we checked with our server the bartender hadn't even started) we weren't waiting anymore and canceled the food. The two drinks we had we ended up paying for and left hungry and dissapointed. The waiter had said the food would take about ten more minutes but after waiting over an hour we just couldn't do it. A couple of drinks on the house certainly could not have hurt for the trouble.
