I have low expectations of this McDonald's anyway, and we've patronized this location for years, but today's visit was our last.
We went through the drive through with five hungry kids and when we started ordering our first value meal, we were simply told, "The computer won't let me put that meal in." We were stumped, but wanted to still order, so we tried to reconfigure our order using another value meal. We were then told, "You can't order a value meal because the computer won't recognize it." I then asked, "Can I order the contents of a value meal separately?" He said yes. I then asked, "But if I order the contents of a value meal separately, I have to pay more, correct?" "Yup," was his response. I asked if he could just give us an equitable discount instead of fleecing us because of a computer malfunction. Not an option. Argh. (With seven of us, that would've added up!)
There was more to the conversation, but it was basically a reenactment of "Who's on First"...
Needless to say, we left. I then called and asked for a manager so I could figure out what the heck had just happened and if customers really couldn't order meals or if it was just his computer...? I was frustrated, but held back because we're all just peole here. I relayed our story and asked why we would have had to pay extra for our food. She didn't address my question, only told me there was a "boil water thing" and we should've seen the signs. She made sure I felt like the dumb one who, apparently couldn't read. I explained, "No, that's not my question." We had some decent back and forth, then she raised her voice at me, at which point I figured I hadn't called to get yelled at and I hung up before I embarassed myself by yelling back.
It boiled down, (pun intended), to an issue with their water and the computer interface. The drive-through employee hadn't told us that and we had such limited information, my husband was actually trying to help him from an I.T. end through the speaker! So, there was a boil water advisory in Clare when we went through the drive-thru and while we could still get soda, we... eh, whatever. Ya know what? Put up relevant signs, McDonald's! Answer your customers when they ask basic questions; and managers, I'm sorry if you've had a hard day, but don't raise your voice at me or treat me like I'm an idiot.
Good thing there are McDonald's everywhere because though we've been to this location hundreds of times, today was definitely our last.
Btw, owner of this McDonald's, please feel free to contact me. That could definitely...
Read moreTami Traver Prescott Went to Mcdonalds in Clare last night , ordered 2 cheese burgers and a chicken sandwich, people came and went and we were still there. Not like me to keep my mouth shut but Brendon was with me. After 25 minutes and everyone else had their food and left and we were still there, I walked up and asked "what is going on here" ? Is this a Mcdonalds or not?" What are you people doing?" A manager came from the back and said she was sorry, they're running a little slow..... a little? ? I told her what I ordered so she turned around and started yelling at the boys behind her. I said "it's not their fault, you're the manager!" By then we're into 45 minutes and Spencer came in to see if we decided to eat inside! The manager was wanting to tear me apart, instead, she gave me a ticket for a free meal, oh boy!! She hands us our bag and a cup of coffee that had been sitting there for 25 minutes at least and I said I'm not taking that, it's been sitting there all this time. Then she said it'll be 10 minutes for fresh coffee! Really? She hands me 2 more tickets, by then Brendon (my 11 yr old grandson with Aspbergers) is yelling and calling people on his phone to tell them what's going on. I thought he was calling Ronald Mcdonald himself! Finally,, she hands Spencer his coffee and we get another ticket for a free meal. OMG and they want $15.00 an hour for this? I vote for bringing back the old Mcdonalds and just ordering your food and getting it, not getting a number and hoping for getting out of there in the next hour with your cold food! Grrrrr...

Read moreUsually have great experiences here but today was the complete opposite it's currently 3pm so the lunch rush has been over for a while, every table in the restaurant was and is still filthy, with breakfast food all over the floor (gives you an idea the last time someone cleaned) We had to wash a table for us to use because they didn't give us a tray, I waited for about 8 minutes to ask for a tray meanwhile I was ignore by almost every employee including the manager. When asked they said sorry they are all dirty then walked away, all of the ice dispensers were empty, the drink station was disgusting covered in dry and wot liquidand garbage, there were no kiosk tents so I assumed maybe they don't have enough people working to help replenish these items... wrong there were at least a dozen workers not including the manager, 3 of which were young kids just pacing back an fourth through the kitchen not doing anything. It's a different manager than when we usually come so I'm guessing thats the problem poor management... only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one was the lovely helpful and clearly overwhelmed young women who brought us our food who seemed to be doing 3+ jobs at once give that...
