So where do I start..... My husband and I decided that we wanted to stop at the Claremont Country Cafe on June 16th 2019 and yes it is fathers day but I didn't believe that we were going to encounter the worse service ever... We walked in and of course like I said it being fathers day it was a little line so we stood in line for about 10 mins and I had overheard a waitress say out loud to the Hostess something about lunch so after about 5 mins the hostess proceeds to sit us down without a word at all and mumbles that our waitress will be right over, so she comes over asks what we want for drinks we order our drinks then she comes back with them and before I could say anything she proceeded to walk away and I get it there very very busy so she when she comes I asked her what was it that the waitress yelled out about and she says to us that oh ya No Lunch today, so we go what no lunch but u have a huge marker board in plain sight so customers can see it stating Lunch Specials so my husband asks so that means u cant do ur Rueben Special she says nope, so we tell her well sorry we are good and she says well our breakfast menu is great and something about there omelet and we both say no thank u and walk out and she didn't seem very nice about it but to me it's your job to let the customers know that ur unable to do lunch before u seat them and not only that u really should have it posted some where as well and shouldn't have had a marker board stating ur lunch specials if ur unable to serve lunch. I am manager at a restaurant myself for 7 years and to be that was definitely bad customer service and I understand your busy and everything, you still need to post or say before u seat people and I felt that the only reason lunch wasn't served was for the simple fact the place was jus piling in and they were overwhelmed because it was 12:30 so a lot of people would like lunch and so with it being a holiday they jus wanted to be able to close at closing time and not...
Read moreWhen my fiance and I got there for breakfast this morning a little after 10, we gave our name and sat down to wait for a table to open up. While we were waiting a couple came in and asked to use the phone bc they had run out of gas. The hostess and a waitress were at the podium and gave the woman the phone and snickered when she turned around and again after she gave the phone back and left. Those two and another waitress who came over began to talk about the woman being dirty, ugly and not having any teeth, loudly enough that I could hear them clearly. Very inappropriate for those who represent the business to openly mock the public in the city they're located. When we got a table, ours was the waitress, Sandy, who was making fun of the woman who borrowed the phone. She was polite enough and our food didn't take very long but when we got our Hunter's Special #2 and biscuits and gravy, the fried egg had a piece of shell in it and in the gravy I found a long hair. We will not...
Read moreFood is good, waitstaff nice, but here's some distinct issues:
On my first visit I ordered a side of country fried steak with my order. My 3rd visit, I asked to order the same side, bit was told they wouldn't sell it as such. They finally caved in and sold it, but only after they went to the kitchen to see it possible. Lack of consistency and unwillingness to accommodate order: both areunacceptable.
Furthermore, I have never heard of a diner that does not serve its entire menu for the entire day. To add onto this sad anomaly of the business, information stating time of lunch item availability is posted absolutely nowhere, neither on a sign or on a menu.
I usually don't pay heed to rumors, but I find believable the one about the owner being quite the especial touch hole. Might explain why the place is so hard up for help even when the pandemic has wrecked...
