Continued from my previous post... About 4:10, we were approached by a lanky, middle aged, Caucasian gentleman with glasses. He went up to the table with my friends that were Deaf and said “You guys have been here for a while and I have an event going on. You need to leave” They did not hear him obviously so we interpreted. Then, asked the man to clarify what he said. He then reiterated “You have been here for a while, I have customers that need a table, and it is time for you to leave”. That sentence was also interpreted into ASL. My hearing friend then said “Sir, we asked the manager (and points to the middle aged woman we spoke with earlier) if we needed to move seats and we kindly obliged. We can move to another section if you would like.” This man then responded “Do you know who I AM?!? I am the OWNER! If I ask you to leave, you need to leave.” That information was relayed to our friends. One of our friends that is Deaf responded in ASL “You cannot tell us to leave. We patronized your business just like any other customer in here. We asked if we needed to move seats and we did. We are not bothering your customers or anything. You cannot kick us out for any reason.” The owner, then responded “Ok its fine. I am THE OWNER and I am saying that you need to leave.” Of course we are now embarrassed and we start packing up our things. While this is going on, we look up and see the OWNER, Mr. Doug Richardson, tell the female manager “Look at them cursing me out in Sign Language” then chuckles. One of our male friends that is Deaf went to him and said with his voice “Sir, I saw what you said. You were not being cursed out in ASL. We are just trying to figure out why you are kicking us out.” Doug Richardson then responded “its fine. You all need to leave. “As we are still gathering our things and discussing how we will NEVER patronize this restaurant again, our same male friend that is Deaf went outside and spotted a young African American woman employee that is always friendly toward us when we come to this location. Our friend was discussing the situation with her when Mr. Richardson went outside and told him “I am the owner and you cannot talk to my employees. You need to leave.” Then he whispered into the young woman’s ear and she went inside. In conclusion, this was the most embarrassing and discriminatory experience I have EVER experienced at Chick Fil A. I have never been kicked out of anywhere in my entire life. It’s interesting how Mr. Doug Richardson found fit to come and harass the group of people that has disabilities. There were plenty of seats available for customers and other groups of people that had been there as long as we had. In our group, everyone has at least a Bachelor’s degree and we were studying. More importantly, we spent over $80 that day with just our group dining in. To be treated like a criminal for no reason is demeaning and disrespectful. Never ever in my life will I, my friends, family, coworkers, or anyone in the Deaf community patronize this Chick Fil A. We will drive a little further where customer service is a priority still. If you or anyone in your party is disabled, THIS is definitely not the location to visit. Try the one on Turner Hill Road or the one in Tucker where their owners still believe in upholding the values of...
Read moreThis location has incorporated new changes that makes it look like the corporation has lost its mind. I went to the drive through while the car line was close to the street but the line was in the street after my relatives and I got our order. We ordered two small oreo milkshakes without those disgusting dyed cherries and one small cup of vanilla ice cream. There's now two employees where the outdoor order menu is located. Both on foot wearing short-sleeved shirts and pants, one takes orders and the other verifies and accepts forms of payment. The second employee to whom I have payment, I believe, is responsible for messing up our order. At the drive through window, there's another employee dressed like the other two outdoor employees. He's facing the two females who putting the orders together. As they were putting the cups in a holder I saw how low the ice cream was. Before the food was handed to the outdoor employee, I asked could they add more ice cream just to fill the cup like it was done years before when I was a regular customer. All I saw was the two females discuss among themselves and no honor to my request. Turns out that ice cream cup was a child's cup of ice cream. The size of that cup was for child between toddler stage and age 5 but the portion was only for a one-year-old. The indoor employees are dressed differently from the outdoor employees. A manager comes almost immediately and tells me that there is no small size for the ice cream. Since when is my question. I expressed dearly that I ordered a small ice cream, not a child size anything. Just think: I can order a small milkshake but I can't order a small ice cream. Both items have similar composition. The manager took the baby cup of ice cream and offered a large cup of ice cream. Then we left to join street traffic that was both entering and leaving the Chick-fil-A parking lot. My first Oreo milkshake ever on 10/11/2019 and my latest time to visit in about two years, and the oreo flavor was mild. My sibling use to long to have one again but not anymore because of the new changes, the order issue and the light cookie flavor from her milkshake. Why Chick-fil-A, why did you have to add nonsense to the way your business was ran? It's terribly ignorant to expose three of your employees to the environmental elements (possible strong winds, loose animals, humidity, etc.) and the potential crazy persons. They're exposed without security supervising the area. Only the person handling the money is under a tent. Ridiculous! They were outdoor during the intense heat of this recent summer. Clearly, this company has no respect for their employees. I doubt I'll be back but I'm sure certain of my...
Read moreI WAS a frequent customer at this Chick Fil A establishment until Saturday, February 3rd, 2018. This is the closest establishment to my job and even though I am now vegan, I still crave their waffle fries and I go for that sole purpose. However on Saturday, I recommended to my 6 friends (5 of which are Deaf) that we bring ourselves and children (3 total including my son who is wheelchair bound and Feeding tube dependent) come to the Chick Fil A on Memorial Drive for lunch and our study group. We arrived at 1:30 p.m. and picked out a location that could accommodate the access for ASL (American Sign Language) and well as where I could pull up my son's wheelchair. We found a great section and everyone ordered their food. After eating until about 2:15, we commenced with our studies and group discussions. Around 3:40 p.m., we noticed a manager setting up tables near us with plaid table linen and vases. I decided to go back to the corridor near the front door to see if I missed a poster about a special event. I did! There was an 8 x 11 flyer that said “Daddy and Daughter Date Night from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Chick Fil A on Memorial Drive”. I went back and informed my friends in ASL of the information on the flyer. One of my friends, who is a hearing person like myself, spotted out the same manager that we saw setting up. She went to her and said “Hey, it seems like you guys are setting up for a special event, do you need us to move our seats?” The small stature, middle aged, Caucasian woman with brunette hair and glasses replied “Actually I do! If you all could move to the table behind you that would help me a lot!” Me, my friend, and my wheelchair bound son all moved to the table behind where we were sitting. Continued in...
