The reviews about customer service for this place are true and I wish I would have taken heed before wasting an entire hour here. This is fair warning to anyone who has never been here before.
My husband, best friend, and I arrived here yesterday (11/17/18) around 8:15-ish. We walked into the establishment and were not greeted at all. We stood in the front for a while before my husband headed to the bar area to ask the bartender where we could sit. (Mostly all the tables had reserved signs on them.) The bartender turned out to be the owner, she was a short dark skinned lady. She was very rude to my husband and waved her hand at him dismissively saying you can sit anywhere. Lucky for her I wasn’t paying attention to their exchange or I would have left right then.
We sat down and remained seated for about 20 minutes before a waitress brought us two menus. She informed us it was her first night working and that the kitchen wouldn’t have food out for another 30-45 minutes. She also said she’d go and grab another menu. We watched as other tables were brought out food (they messed up the order of a table nearby us) and they were in the process of moving chairs and setting up for the night which was a little tacky while customers are present. Also we were planning on ordering a hookah but to my dismay there were kids in the establishment. I don’t see how you can boast being a hookah lounge but allow small children to be inside where smoke is present. I’m not exaggerating when I say we sat for 30 minutes with no service. Our waitress never brought our 3rd menu nor did she bring over water. I went to the bathroom and by the time I came back my best friend was done with the whole thing and ready to go. We left and once I looked at the clock and noticed it was 9:13 I was even more pissed to see a whole hour was down the drain because of their unprofessionalism.
If you are short staffed then you need to hire more workers. Food shouldn’t take 45 minutes or more to come out and customers shouldn’t be left to fend for themselves when they’re new to your business. The owner was rude and that left a bad taste in my mouth. The inside was nice and it was a decent size but because of all these things I can’t see myself going back willingly and spending my money. Patronize at...
Read moreThe first time I went to Ole Lounge was a quiet night. They were out of everything I wanted even the liquor, so I settled for something else. I ordered a to go plate of tassot Turkey & griot. They gave me 2 plates of griot. This was a problem mainly because I don’t eat pork & the griot was an order placed for someone else. I tried to call that entire week, varying the times I called from start to close of business hours with no answer from them. Moreover, I kept the food for 2 days in anticipation that they would answer the phone as a business is supposed to & give me instructions on what to do, then disposed of it. I went back to the restaurant yesterday & asked to speak to the manager & they told me there was nothing they could do for me because I didn’t get anyone on the phone which is negligence on their part as a business & no fault of my own. They proceeded to tell me that the phone wasn’t working the day prior. Furthermore, the owners wife told me that I “should have frozen” the food as proof & offered a dry apology. Excuse me? They were very dismissive. I guess once they have your money they don’t care. Anyway, I decided to give them another chance because I liked the food when I went there the first time. Needless to say, it was a mistake. My friend & I literally sat at our table & no one came to service us for at least 30 mins. Imagine walking in to a restaurant & having to REQUEST menus for your table THEN having to REQUEST that someone take your orders. It was a busy night however, in light of the mishap which occurred the last time I was there that I explained to the manager you would think that they would at least offer excellent customer service to compensate for it. The customer service at this establishment is subpar & I will not be returning. They evidently do not value...
Read moreI went to Ole for the first time last night (a Saturday night) with my boyfriend. The atmosphere was nice however I was hoping the dj would have played more Haitian/Caribbean/afrobeat music. The food was great but the servers need more training with customer service. My boyfriend never got a refill although he asked twice so he had to drink some of my drink. Here is my major complaint. The restrooms had no running water. They had jugs of water on the sink counters for customers to wash their hands. That is nasty. I could not use the restroom because the toilets did not flush. The toilets were filled with urine, feces, and tissue. Even worse, Ole’s staff placed a jug of water on the bathroom sink and labeled it with permanent marker indicating that it was for hand washing. My boyfriend said the men’s restroom was the exact same way. It seems as though they turn off the water in the restrooms on purpose to save money and flush only once at the end of the night. I say this because they had running water in the kitchen/bar. They were able to serve us drinking water and had water to cook the food. This raises a concern. How are the servers washing their hands? Are they using the restroom and then contaminating the jug by touching it to wash their hands or are they using the restroom then going to the kitchen sink to wash their hands where the food is being prepared? Regardless, this is disgusting and unsanitary. Had we known of this prior to eating, we would have gone somewhere else. I had to leave sooner than expected in order to use a restroom at the nearby waffle house. Ole,...
