I hate to have to take away stars but the people depend on honest reviews so I have to be fair.
First let me start of by saying you can smell the aroma from the street! This location is very clean and the customer service is amazing!
I ordered the lamb and peanut butter soup! knock you off your feet AMAZING! Like so good I could have blinked and thought that I was in Africa! The lamb was tender but well done. My preference would have me medium well. However, they don’t give options which was fine with me because it still was cooked perfectly. it was accompanied by some super sweet plantains that I couldn’t get enough of! I would love to know the marinade for that lamb!
The peanut butter soup was so good! Like AMAZING!!! I just didn’t like that I literally drained 1/4 cup of palm oil that was sitting on top of my soup!! I felt cheated because that was 1/4 cup of soup I could have had instead. It honestly almost made my stomach turn but it was easy to drain the excess oil so I decided to eat anyways. The soup was creamy and had that real clean peanut butter look and taste! It had a hint of sweetness to it but they have you some pepper sauce to accompany it. I ordered it with rice which was cooked well! I wish they had bean stew! This is definitely my new to go spot!
The wait unfortunately is where i take another star away (the excessive oil was too much)! I was quoted one thing but ended up waiting nearly 40 minutes over! Like my time is just as valuable as yours and it’s rude of you to not respect it as such. Again it’s not a big deal but it’s definitely something to think about when debating on whether to come again or not.
Anyways, enjoy people.., it...
Read moreAfter recently moving to Atlanta, I’ve been on a quest to find the best African food in the area. Unfortunately, my journey has been filled with serious disappointments. Most of the places I’ve tried—from College Park to Jonesboro and Norcross—fell short in multiple areas: either overpriced with low-quality dishes or portions that didn’t justify the cost. None of them delivered that “back home” feeling I was craving.
With tempered expectations, I decided to give one last spot a try. I placed my order through Uber Eats for pickup, and upon arriving at the restaurant, I was greeted by a long line. I arrived at 8:17 PM and didn’t leave until 8:54 PM. Despite the wait, a lady—possibly the owner—approached me to apologize for the delay. She was extremely polite and even accommodated me with a side of plantains as a gesture of goodwill. For me, excellent customer service is a major plus when I’m spending my hard-earned money.
For my order, I chose turkey tail with fries and egusi sauce with turkey. Let’s start with the turkey tail: this was, without a doubt, the best I’ve had since leaving Africa. It instantly transported me back to the days when my mom used to prepare it. The seasoning and preparation were spot on, delivering that nostalgic “back home” feeling I’d been searching for. As for the egusi, it was equally delicious and well-prepared, with a depth of flavor that’s rare to find.
Overall, I’d rate this place a solid 9/10. The food was exceptional, the service was warm and accommodating, and they’ve definitely earned a repeat visit from me. If you’re in Atlanta and looking for authentic African cuisine, this spot should be at the top of your...
Read moreIf you’re considering this place, be warned. I visited recently and was treated with extreme rudeness when I simply asked about the pricing for white rice and stew. I requested to substitute white rice instead of jollof rice in the jollof rice and stew plate because I don’t like jollof rice, but they insisted that I couldn’t do that and had to get the jollof. When I tried ordering white rice and stew separately, they charged me an additional $10. I asked why, pointing out that the white rice on the menu was listed at about $7. Their response was that since the white rice and stew came in a larger container, the extra charge was necessary. I politely requested two small portions instead, with no meat or extras, but was again met with hostility and told that it “couldn’t be done” and that I had to order the full meal or nothing.
At that point, I decided to skip the order altogether. That’s when they changed their stance and said I could order white rice and stew, but after the long discussion and agreeing on the specifics, they still went on to overcharge my card by about $10. When I questioned this discrepancy, they rudely told me it wasn’t possible to pay less and brushed off my concerns. This back-and-forth happened multiple times, and each time, they were dismissive and unhelpful. I was very saddened and...
