So, Rudy’s diner has moved to 601 South Riverside Drive Clarksville, Tennessee in a strip mall at the corner of Riverside Drive and Crossland Avenue. Rudy’s is in the spot of Cali Subs which is permanently closed. Rudy’s original spot on Madison Street was torn down along with Eastgate Lanes to make room for in my opinion, an unnecessary car wash. Fun fact. The original business where Rudy’s was located at on Madison Street was a Waffle King. Another fun fact. The original Rudy’s was a restaurant called Lonzo’s located where Walgreens is at on Madison Street.
Rudy’s is a breakfast greasy diner restaurant. With the retirement of Johnny from Johnny’s Big Burger and Joyce from Kelly’s, Rudy’s is probably the best place to get a burger in Clarksville. This is not to say that Rudy’s serves the best burger that you will ever eat. Just the best burger from a diner in Clarksville Tennessee. Rudy’s serves a good breakfast as well. I don’t think that Rudy’s is so great, it is just that other restaurants are that bad now. If you go, you will get good food, good service at a good price. Just nothing great.
The best thing now about Rudy’s is how clean it is. The old location of Rudy’s on Madison Street was filthy. I stopped going because of how dirty Rudy’s was. Now, Rudy’s is as clean as it should be featuring employees/owner from the old location. Parking can be a problem at Rudy’s as it was at the old location. There are several businesses located at the same strip mall as Rudy’s. When these businesses are open, the available parking spots is very limited. In addition, Rudy’s does not have many seating spots, just like the old location. It seems that whenever you have a craving for Rudy’s, everyone else in Clarksville has the same craving at the same time.
Rudy’s Diner in Clarksville Tennessee is a good restaurant. If you have never been, you should try it. If you are a fan of Rudy’s then you probably go all the time to the new location. Before there were Mexican restaurants and nail salons everywhere in Clarksville, there were diners everywhere. Now, not so much. Rudy’s is the best of diner type restaurant in...
Read moreThis is my 2nd or 3rd time here. While the wait can sometimes be at least 30 mins it's not a bad joint to eat at. My most recent venture here with my kids was actually the best experience. Although we had to wait a good while for a seat we were already expecting it so it didn't come as a surprise. We were seated and our waitress Shannon took care of us. She started with our drinks which was simple everyone wanted water most with lemon one without and a coffee. She brought the water and as we normally do we just pass them down so they don't have to reach over. But Shannon stopped us and said 'he asked for no lemon, I'm coming back with his" which completely impressed me it's one of those things that are easily forgotten but she didn't forget. My kids ordered a lot of fried foods which she kindly informed us that they only have one fryer for fried foods which means it will take a good while to get us those items. She took the time to explain a few menu items to my kids as well which we really appreciated. she didn't seem to be rushing us or anything and they were fairly busy. Our food cake out great. The gravy didn't have a lot of flavors but it was still good. My loaded hashbrowns were on point I always forget they add American cheese but hey it's a diner. I asked for them to be slightly crispy which they were.. the veal sandwich my son had he said he was good, tots were meh. from the pic u can tell the Mozzarella sticks were a hit, mushrooms were okay. My daughter enjoyed her pulled pork with slaw.. but by far the best part was how attentive and sweet Mrs. Shannon was. She made our diner experience that much...
Read moreI tried this place based off previous reviews. I wouldn’t eat here again ever! Here is my experience. I ordered my food to go and went in while my order was being finished. I ordered French toast, hash browns, biscuit/gravy, and grits. The first thing I noticed was the server who put toast in the toaster oven without gloves and placed it on the plate without gloves. Then proceeded to serve it to a customer. This wasn’t my order, but I observed this unsanitary practice. This is unsanitary especially given the current pandemic. The cook was slightly better as he wore at least one glove while he wiped sweat from his forehead. I understand it was busy and I’m sure he was hot over the grill. I should’ve known to cancel my order then, but no! I patiently waited.
Fast forward I am now home and about to eat my food. The hash browns were actually decent. The French toast had a side of hair baked into it (not just 1 piece but several!). Half of the hair was in my mouth while the other half dangled from the the French toast. This was my first and last time eating here. I didn’t even bother to call as I’m sure it wouldn’t have made a difference. Non of the staff wore hair nets neither did I see anyone wash their hands.I was there for about 20(ish) minutes. I was disgusted. I should’ve cancelled when I saw the waitress touch the toast with her bare hands. I wish I could give ZERO stars.
Don’t believe the health department score or the hype! Keep it moving. Try at...
