I saw all the 5-star reviews, so I tried this place and was very disappointed. The staff were very kind and attentive, and the place was very clean. The food, however, was poor.
Let me quickly explain something: I cook a lot. For years, I had a 12-hour night shift. We had a kitchen, and I would cook. I used to cook a big meal, such as chicken with vegetables and eat half right after cooking it, then put the rest in the fridge in a sealed container and eat the rest 6-8 hours later. I noticed that chicken tasted a lot worse after being in the fridge and re heated, so I stopped doing this. It has to do with how the fats and juices in the chicken breaks down after being cooked and then cooled, you can read about it if you google search. Anyway, the point is: I know what reheated chicken tastes like; no sauce/spice can hide it from me.
I got the "Spicey" Lemongrass Chicken for dinner. The sauce was ok, but not very spicey. What killed the meal was the re heated chicken I got. I can tell they cook plain chicken when the place opens, then throw it in Tupperware. Then when you order, they reheat it and pour the sauce on top. This makes for old tasting, rubbery chicken. Vegetables can survive a reheat, but chicken cannot. If you grew up eating at places that do this, you won't notice (thus all the high reviews) but if you eat at places that cook fresh, or cook a lot as I do, you can taste it immediately. You can also tell they cook plain chicken to fit ALL meals, then add the sauce on later. It doesn't taste as good as fresh chicken cooked in its own spices and sauce. Sadly, this method seems to be a thing at Asian restaurants in AR/TN. I can't find a good Thai or Chinese place, after growing up on them in New York City.
It's sad, because it's a nice place. If they cooked the food fresh, I'd be a regular. Might be ok for vegetarians, as the vegetables tasted fine but not for...
Read moreI love Thai curry and noticed this place while driving by, so I decided to give it a try. Right away, I noticed something unusual on the menu—the red curry included broccoli, which I’ve never seen in authentic red curry. On top of that, they charge extra if you want to add a protein, which seemed odd since red curry typically comes with a protein. Without it, I guess it’s just broth and rice? Despite my reservations, I decided to call in an order. I ordered a milk tea boba and two red curries with chicken, adding extra chicken to one of them. They told me the order would be ready in 10-15 minutes.
Since I live about 10 minutes away, I headed over right after placing the order. When I arrived, the restaurant was dimly lit, almost as if it was closed. It was completely silent, and there wasn’t a single customer in sight—on a Saturday afternoon, no less. I paid around $45 and left, but things quickly went downhill from there. I tried the milk tea boba in my car, and it tasted like watered-down milk. It seemed like they made it as soon as I called, which was odd considering there were no other customers, and the girl working was just sitting on her phone. Why not make it fresh when I arrived?
Still, I tried not to let that affect my opinion of the food. When I got home and poured both curries into separate bowls, I was shocked to see almost the same amount of chicken in each—about 6 pieces, even though I paid extra for additional chicken in one. The one with "extra" chicken had maybe 8 pieces at best. While the broth was flavorful, the broccoli completely threw off the dish, and there weren’t many vegetables or chicken, just a lot of broth. For $45, I felt like I paid for rice and broth, not a satisfying meal.
Overall, this place was a huge disappointment and a waste of money. I definitely wouldn’t...
Read moreTook 1.5 hours to get our take out on a Tuesday evening. After I walked in I waited at least 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence. After ordering I was told to expect a wait of 30-45 minutes but they were running faster than usual. Ha. My Pad Thai not only came with sprouts when I asked for none but was so incredibly dry and tasteless I couldn’t even eat it. I’m wondering if maybe it sat under a heat lamp too long. I am rating 2 stars because my husband’s Pad Si Ew was pretty good. Spring rolls were okay. I understand this place has newly opened but they can’t expect me to go back anytime soon with this kind of service.
The lady who ordered after me complained so much about the wait that they prioritized her food before ours. Another lady received her food shortly after she arrived and ordered which angered all of the other people who had been waiting. You could tell kitchen staff was disorganized. Also, I tried to order by calling ahead of time but no one answered the phone the few times I tried. While waiting in the restaurant I never saw any new customers get greeted and no one answered the phone. Everyone had to come up to the bar and ask for a menu. Many people seated came up to pay because table service was slacking. Whoever was working the counter was very rude with customers who were waiting. She said the manager approved a measly 5% discount for people who waited a long time. Owner needs to be present during opening week to observe and correct all the issues this...
