My wife and I stayed at the Tropicana on February 18, 2017. Below are our thoughts:

Staff- Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Since this was our first stay at the property we had a lot of questions and all of the staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.

Buffet Restaurant: We ate dinner and breakfast at the buffet. The dinner was probably one of the best buffets we ever had. Each buffet item was hot and flavored very well. I thought the fried chicken was to die for. The breakfast was good, but not as good as dinner. A lot of the food lacked flavor and some of it was cold.

Casino: We went on a Saturday and they were giving away a car so it was very crowded. However, we were able to find several slot machines and video poker machines available. Of course we ended up losing money, but overall we enjoyed the experience and appreciated the wide variety of machines they had. However, they do need to invest in "The Walking Dead" which is an awesome slot machine. I also enjoyed the Coke dispensers and was told they won't have them in their new casino which is a shame because they are really popular.

Our overall impression was very positive and we hope to return in the future. Thanks...

We are in Caribbean heaven! The portions were more than satisfying. Being a Puerto Rican an a culinary aficionado, I can tell you that the cooking of this restaurant is not only genuine but above average as well. I had the white rice with a side of red beans, the carne de cerdo guisada (pork tips cacerole) and the "salted codfish" cacerole. They were cooked to perfection, with the right amount of condiments, and with very little salt, to my surprise. I did not posted a picture as I really swallowed this delicious platter. My wife had the mofongo with the chicken cacerole. Same story. Really savory, the mofongo had a garlicky flavor, but not too strong nor salty. The environment is very informal and familiar, in no way this is "fine dining", just genuine Caribbean food for people who are hungry for good food in a nice place. They offer tropical juices and...

I came to this place a week ago and the lady Angela or something like that was V E R Y rude, I'm not sure why, I was very respectful it was my first time at the place I came because of the reviews. I brushed it off and thought maybe she's just having a bad day and is tired. I bought the lamb plate and the food was good and salty. The rice was mushy and overcooked.

I thought hey, I'ma give this place another chance. Today when I came back I asked about the soup and the menu and she was RUDER than the first time!! I was still very respectful. When asked her about her menu and she replied with a S N A R K Y attitude. I walked out at this point, I will not support or recommend.

I do not recommend this place for any POC or AMERICANS! I DON'T Recommend ANY support from any REAL Americans to this place they ARE NOT FRIENDLY! V E R Y rude and V E R Y...

This place is one great. I want to say it is Puerto Rican style food but I am not sure. What I will say is that my meal was delicious. The rice was nice and moist with lots of flavor. I had the beans placed on top of the rice. The pork was excellent. Nice big chunks of pork in red sauce. Every bite was great. They have some home made jalapeño sauce if you like your food spicy. The food is laid out cafeteria style. You pick what you want and the put it on a plate or to go container for you. I ordered the lunch meal consisted of 1 meat 2 sides for around $9. Food was more than enough, I couldn't even finish it. The decor is not much, very dated not much money has been put into it since the restaurant opened. Lots of tables if you wanted to bring the family or lots of friends. Plenty of parking. Latin music was a little loud for me but others might enjoy it.

Last time I was at Ft. Campbell I passed this place maybe 9 or 10 times and didnt notice it. This time an Army retiree took me and a few others there. I'm deeply ashamed of myself for not having paid more attention. Every time I visit a post I try to hit as many non-franchised places as I can. I've been to several Puerto Rican places at different posts and this place was hands down the best Ive had. I had ribs, the others in my party had chicken. A lot of places seem like they hold back on seasoning, but Tropicana's food was very nicely seasoned, even the rice! I will absolutely hit Tropicana if I go back to Ft. Campbell!
