I'm kind of wondering if any of these people actually had a REAL Pastie before? Mine was not good. The main problem is it's 95% potato. The amount of meat is more of a garnishment than an ingredient. I tasted nothing but potato. Last week I was in Muinisng and went to Muldoon's. The lady told me that her mix is 50% meat and 50% everything else. It was delicious! Outstanding actually! She said anything less and all you will taste is potato. That's what this pastie was. Totally not worth the money for a "potato pocket." I get it that the meat is the most expensive ingredient and that's where everyone is skimping. But when you skimp so much that it makes your dish tasteless of meat, why even make it? I also bought the Italian sub. Seriously??? I won't go into it, but it was all bun and not even close to being an Italian sub - especially for $10. My recommendation is: forget the pastie and get yourself an Italian sub at Subway, 10x tastier. Sorry for the honesty, but...

Barb's delicious pasties and pizza put a smile on my wife and I's face as we sat down to watch tv. I'm a huge fan of a curvy pepperoni and I love that the pizza sports them, though, even normal pepperonis would've been delicious on this pie. Admittedly, I haven't had a pastie in several years and I remember the last not being my favorite kind of pastry, but Barb's really does something that makes these pasties phenomenal. Besides the amazing food, the ladies there were a riot! It truly made the experience unique!

My favorite pastys below the bridge for over 15 years. Made just like those that got me through the cold UP winters during college. They are big and plenty moist, so you don't even need gravy or anything with them. Grab them hot, cold, or in my case, frozen for the long ride home. I tried the banana cake today, and woe is it good as well. So much cream cheese frosting, love it and will get another piece when back in Detroit. I cant comment at all on their pizza, as I have never had it.

I'm originally from NJ and moved to the UP for about 6-7 years back in the 90's and now reside in Ohio. I grew ADDICTED to pasties while living in the UP and have had them delivered to me periodically but they never seemed the same. Today I stopped in Barb's while in Michigan for work and found Barb's on a Google search. I am so incredibly glad I did! Not only is the owner Barb and staff outstanding to deal with, literally had a 20 min conversation with them, but the nostalgia of the store is what makes it perfect for me. It's no nonsense, no frills, pasties, pizza, baked goods and other food, but it's the pasties that I drove here for. After finding a cooler and dry ice to make sure they made the trip back to SE Ohio, Barb and her team packed them up securely in the cooler for me for my 3.5 hour road trip South. My wife was super excited for me to be bringing these home and once I got home we threw 2 in the air fryer and I'm sitting here devouring mine as I type this. These have brought me back to my days in the UP in the early 90's. The owner of Palace Liquors didn't lie when he told me he would put Barb's up against any UP pastie institution and he didn't lie! I am in heaven and can't wait to come back up in December for my next order! I also picked up some enormous cookies and my daughter has already devoured 2 so they must be just as delicious. Thank you...

I hate leaving a review like this but the service this morning was awful. Love Barb's food but their prices have gone up and customer service has gone downhill. When I ordered a slice of carrot cake, I was told they had none unless I had to wanted to buy a full cake. They could have just cut one of the two cakes they had and offerd me a slice but... they preferred to sell none, and have a customer leave empty handed. We got the rest of our order but probably won't be going back any time soon. Things are expensive now and we don't need to be spending money at establishments that don't seem to care about their customers.

Since the original review we have been shorted multiple times on Door Dash orders and had expired chili delivered. One time we ordered a full cake for a birthday and were delivered a single slice (but charged for a full cake).

Just tonight we ordered two turnovers and a slice of cake and only got one turnover (but charged for two). It's fairly obvious nothing has changed and this service is par for the course. When I called to complain they said they wanted to "make it right" but how about not messing it up constantly? Hard to believe the owner is at the restaurant, blaming new employees, and allowing food to be sent out like that. Stop blaming other people. Unfortunately as much as we love your food this is the last time we'll let you...

First time ordering from this establishment, my daughter had requested we order from here for her birthday party. Called on the phone, the woman I talked to was trying to finish my order before I had completed telling her what I wanted. We had requested to have our order ready at 430pm (it was 330pm) and we were never told that would be a problem. When we arrived at 425pm to pick it up, the woman who greeted us was extremely rude. “Your order isn’t ready yet, SINCE YOU REQUESTED IT FOR 430.” The other woman working there asked if it was the order for 430pm, which she replied “yeah, THAT one” and proceeded to give us a look. For a small business, you would think you would attempt to be friendly since there are at least 10 other places we could have ordered from, and they certainly were NOT busy. The other customer that had come in directly behind us was not spoken to in such a demeaning tone. The food was ok and overpriced, but we won’t be coming back here again. We try to support small business as often as we can, but asking to pick up an order at a different time is apparently asking too much from...
