A couple of months ago, a friend of mine had a horrible experience at this place. She and I only had some drinks there, and afterwards she realized she had forgotten her wallet. Worried, she called several times to ask if it was there (since it was the last place she had been that day). She went directly to the establishment to ask, and the owner immediately started calling her a scammer, without any proof. I don’t know if it was because she was wearing her work clothes or because of her ethnicity (she is not American, but she works here legally). Even some customers behind her back started calling her “an immigrant.” She felt humiliated. After that, she went to ask at other restaurants and nearby stores, and everyone else treated her with respect and understanding—unlike the owners of this place. In the end, her wallet was returned, but even the police had to get involved. She was very scared at first because she thought she had done something wrong. She told me to let it go because in the end her wallet was returned and the police were kind, but the owner never offered her an apology. The incident affected her so much that she even mentioned it to her psychologist, because she couldn’t understand what she had done wrong. She is very kind and shy, and I don’t know anyone more honest than her. I suggested she at least write this review, but she told me to let it go since the situation had already been resolved. It’s a shame, because the staff is friendly, but the owners are rude and prejudiced. Just recently I passed by this store again and remembered the whole situation. Seeing a purple ribbon outside with the phrase “Stop the Violence” made me very angry. They don’t deserve to display...
Read moreLove this local spot right on Main Street in Clayton.Ga. It’s an amazing comfortable venue with a hey yall, hi friends kind of vibe. I’ve been here a couple times and seen people playing cards at the tables or knitting or doing arts and crafts kind of like a sophisticated coffee shop but no coffee here. They have internet for customers, serve beer, wine, and mead and have some great non alcoholic drinks as well. They have tables of assorted sizes comfortable couches and chairs that beckon you to stay a while. Wonderful wines and charcuterie boxes, fabulous chicken salad and yummy pimento cheese spread. It’s easy to lose track of time and just relax. I think they have events and music some evenings. It just seems like a really great place. The hosts Lynda Ann and Matt are so welcoming and this place is really special. I can’t wait to visit again....
