Hello, my husband and I stopped in on a beautiful fall Saturday last week to inquire about the accommodations and prices as we find ourselves staying in Clayton more and more thought it would be nice to stay in town rather than on the lake. So another words, high potential for repeat customers and lots of revenue. I have never been greeted with such rudeness, and inhospitable attitude and flagrant disregard for courtesy or respect. Upon entering, nobody was there we waited I admired how beautiful the waiting area was and eventually when someone arrived, she asked how she could help us as anyone could do,, Nothing special or unspecial there, but nothing overly welcoming either – mind you it was a busy Saturday in town – I said that we were curious about the inn, that we saw that there was a full bar and assumed there were rooms upstairs, Leaving that sentence open, wondering how many so she could pick up and finish sharing about the location ...giving her space to answer. Obvious to us that if you're in the hospitality industry, you then welcome and share a little bit about your inn. Oddly and shockingly, she just looked at us, opened her eyes wide and shook her head as if to say or imply that I needed to finish my sentence, With her eyebrows raised in an annoyance. What I looking for was obvious, but she just looked at us like we were in the wrong somehow within saying 10 words, I had inconvenienced her and annoyed her and my husband and I both said "is there a restaurant?" Like we needed to clarify to her to go ahead and be hospitable? So then we further explained as she stared at us blankly with a look on her face that someone makes after they've just asked you a question and they're waiting on you to answer we said – What kind of rooms do you have? Do you accept pets? At that point her rudeness was so obvious she caught herself and went into a very fake sing song overview of the inn. Dripping with fakeness and rather than stop herself and say hey, I'm so sorry that was rude. I don't know where my head was at. Let me show you guys around ....or anything like that ....she Reminded me of the lady in pretty woman who acted like Julia Roberts couldn't shop there as if we all couldn't tell how rude and fake she was being. I was afraid I was about to embarrass myself and her and my husband so I walked out. He sat there and patiently listened and we left. I'm not sure if she thinks she's too good for her customers, but her name tag said general manager. I was appalled. I haven't been treated like that since I was working in retail and Restaurants and had customers treat me like I was beneath them. It's been a hot minute since I've been treated so poorly and I felt it necessary to share. Needless to say, we have connections in town and have shared with everybody we know how horrible that was encouraging them to encourage anyone they know to stay away. Little Miss general manager would do well to remember that she is not better than anyone coming to stay in her place of employment. I'll not be treated that way and keep it to myself. Anna Smith,...
Read moreI would've given the White Birch Inn more stars if the price point was lower, but this place is completely overcharging. We stayed in the Persimmon Room, and while beautiful, the walls were so thin we could hear every word of the conversations occurring in neighboring rooms. For a couple's trip, this lack of privacy made it feel uncomfortable to fully unwind and relax. We also did not find the beds in the Persimmon room to be particularly comfortable. The Wifi was barely working, which made it hard for streaming on our devices. Our shower water pressure would switch from high pressure to low pressure randomly. In addition, some of the services listed on the White Birch Inn's website are misleading. For example, the wine tasting isn't really a tasting, its just free wine and a cheese board (which is very nice, but I was expecting something more like a guided tasting, when I heard the word tasting). We were also disappointed to realize that the lobby closes at 9, and therefore you can't play the board games that were there past 9. My fiancé and I were in the middle of a round of drinks and a game of chess, but they told us we had to leave at 9 so we didn't get to finish. Unfortunately, they do not let you bring the games up to the room - seems like a silly rule when you consider the nightly rate in a relatively quiet town. Finally, the misseause (sp?) insulted my career choice when she was reviewing my form for a massage - when you do a massage for relaxation purposes, getting insulted isn't a great way to start it off. She should keep her opinions to herself, and not bite the hand thats paying her.
Over all, the facility is quite pretty, and is in a walkable part of downtown Clayton, and driving distance to Tallulah falls, which was all very nice. The staff, aside from the misseause, were quite friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I just would not give this a five star experience or consider this a...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at the White Birch Inn while visiting the Clayton, GA area. The Inn is high-end with luxury bedding and towels. Each room is unique with an upscale nature theme. There is a very pleasant and cozy common area and bar on the lower level serving beverages exclusively to Inn guests. They have complementary wine and cheese each afternoon. A delicious breakfast is served in the breakfast room and is included in the room charge. You have a choice of various breakfast items each morning. The guest rooms are on the second floor with parking just off the upper porch, making luggage transfer easy. The staff is so friendly and accommodating making the stay extra special. The town of Clayton offers a full afternoon of shopping experiences, and the surrounding mountains offer a variety of hiking and outdoor activities. And Clayton has a number of very fine restaurants from which to choose. I highly recommend The White Birch Inn if you want a unique, chic experience, without it being...
