I'm a Rabun County resident born in the mountains. Recently I met with a young couple that I have the honor of officiating their upcoming wedding. We decided to go to Steoka Creek because of there reputation for great service and excellent cusine. We we're sadly mistaken! Our server was very obnoxious and kept hovering over us, pushing us to hurry up with our order. Let me add there was only a handful of people in the restaurant with four servers present! We finally placed our appetizer order with drinks that he messed up. Then he was gone for 15 to 20 minutes and never check back on us. When he finally came we ordered our entree. I ordered the pear salad with steak. I told him I wanted a hot pink center. He yelled across the room to the kitchen that I wanted hot pink. Very rude in the dining area! 20 minutes later the food arrived in my steak was neither hot nor pink it was cold and inedible! It was so tough you couldn't chew it! I had to send it back and he made another comment regarding that. They asked if I'd like anything else and I ask for a hamburger. I believe it was $26 for a bun with mustard ketchup pickles that took another 20 minutes to prepare and bring to the table. My young couple had already finished their meal and had to wait on me. I spoke with the manager who was young and inexperienced for that position and informed her of the issues with service and my food but responded with a c'est La vie attitude!, However, she did comp my meal, which should have been a given. But offered no apologies for the service or the food! This ruined the evening that I had to spend trying to get to know this young couple before I performed their wedding ceremony! As a local I would rate this is one of the worst restaurants in Rabun County! For the near future I will not done at this establishment and I recommend to my friends and family and neighbors not to either! If you want good food, go to the Chop House in Franklin, the Attic in Clarksville or several other new restaurants in...
Read moreThe food was good. Wine list ok. Service was excellent. However, the advertisement that live piano music is available while you dine is misleading. I reserved a table for my 40th birthday dinner one month in advance. On arrival, we were seated in the back of the restaurant. You can barely hear the piano from this area, and they pipe in background music, which drowns it out. There were 9 tables available in listening distance from the piano at the time of our seating. We talked to the hostess about the issue, who said all she could do was seat us at the bar. Not as comfortable or roomy for our food, and available to anyone who walked in. Not for someone who booked well in advance and wanted to enjoy a celebratory dinner. We ate our dinner (still 5 open tables near the piano), and as someone (the manager?) came around to ask how our meal was, we again expressed our concern. He stated that he had no control over social media, as we stressed that the possibility we would not be able to enjoy the piano was not communicated. He said that we needed to state in the booking request that we wanted to be seated where we could hear the piano. We pointed out that the live piano music is advertised for Friday and Saturday, nowhere does it state that there are areas where you cannot hear the music, there is no recommendation that it is necessary to request this when you make a reservation (blanket advertisement that music is offered, no restrictions), and this was the only reason we chose this restaurant over others for our meal. I am incredibly disappointed as I wanted something special to celebrate this milestone birthday. This did not turn out to be the case, and the apathy we received did not help matters. I will not be recommending this restaurant to my friends and family who frequently dine in the area. The food was good, but with so many other excellent dining options in the area, what I believed set it apart was the piano music. You’re better served at steakhouses elsewhere within a 10-15...
Read more7/27/25. Birthday treat..... A truly rewarding culinary experience. We ordered the steakhouse chopped salad with the pecan vinaigrette as our starter & the trout as our main course & it was all exceptional. The only negative aspect was the server spilled a drink on me, which was I'm sure accidental & it happens sometimes. That's why I rated the service at 4 stars. This was our first visit here to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere is unique & cozy, even on a blistering hot summer day.
Second visit 9/22/25. Our Anniversary dinner
Following our recent & first experience with Stekoa Creek 2 months ago, my Husband & I elected to return for a second rewarding culinary experience to celebrate our anniversary.
As before, we were not disappointed. The quality of the food & the flavor profiles are certain to meet & possibly exceed the most critical & demanding palettes . This time , in addition to the steakhouse chopped salad as a starter, we chose the center cut rib-eye & the 9 oz filet which we were told are dry aged, & accompanied with the garlic mashed potatoes. As before, everything was spot on. The steaks were exactly as we requested them for cooking preference & the flavor was what you would expect in a perfectly grilled high quality cut of beef & they remained moist through the very last bite. The mashed potatoes were the perfect blend of Boursin Cheese & Roasted Garlic. Our server was probably the best server we have ever had, I just wish we had asked his name. He offered us a desert choice in honor of our anniversary & we chose the carrot cake which was outstanding.
The price point for this restaurant is probably considered by some to be a bit on the high side for regular & frequent dining, but it is definitely worth the splurge for special occasions. Both of our experiences are a prime example of " you get what you pay for". We paid for outstanding flavor & quality & that is exactly what...
