Sweet Bakery — Restaurant in Clayton

I went into Sweet Bakery to order an Easter Cake and some cupcakes. Was told I couldn’t use a credit card, so I walked down to Safeway to make a purchase and get cash. Came back to pay for my Easter order and another customer was using her card. Hmmmm... I then ordered a square white cake from the glass display and was told it had lemon filling. Was so looking forward to serving it to my family for dessert. The filling was not filling, it was dry white frosting exactly as was used to frost this cake. Horribly stale, we tossed it. I called today to speak with a manager, but the posted phone number on their website is disconnected. So disappointing and a waste of my money. Would not recommend...

My family’s absolute favorite is the cranberry orange muffin. Whenever I buy this, as soon as I put them down on the kitchen table, they disappear so fast. We’ve tried this at several other bakeries and Sweet Bakery beats them all hands down. I personally also love the lemon bars, carrot cake bars, cream cheese Danish and the list goes on. My mom and I were delighted to meet Douglas, the baker, one morning when we ate there. He shared his story about how most of what he makes are his Dad’s recipes. One can tell how passionate and dedicated he was about his work and his baked goodies. We’re very thankful and blessed that his bakery is so close...

Haven't been to this bakery in years. Went in today & ordered 2 sandwiches and wanted to also purchase several pastries.....come to find out they ONLY take CASH. I didn't have any cash on me at all so just left. I can only assume that they had issues in the past with credit cards but they shouldn't let that get in the way with other customers. They lost about a $ 40.00 sale because I didn't have cash. I will say that their sandwiches and pastries...
