I had a highly unfortunate experience at this hotel recently (April 2021), and though I have hoped that it was a case of simple miscommunication, it rather feels quite discriminatory.
My mother had called the front desk prior to noon that day, inquiring whether there was any availability for that evening, despite the last-minute nature of the booking. The man the answered her call was perfectly friendly, telling her that there was availability and it would be no problem. Then asked, "What time will you be arriving?" To which my mother replied, "About 3pm". He was quick to get her off the phone, and did not ask for any sort of payment at that time- which, in retrospect, was a red flag we should have seen.
At that time, later that same day, we pulled into the "hotel's" parking lot. The Jaguar out front adds a particular feel of luxury in an otherwise lacking atmosphere.
My mom goes in first, and I follow with our bags, luggage, etc. The front entrance is closed, presumably for Covid related reasons, and so we have to use a side entrance.
Inside the lobby, we approached the window in which an older Southeast Asian man stood, with a wife of similar heritage. To make it clear, my mother is brown and I am biracial, and so lighter than her but ambiguous to most.
The man asked if my mother had a reservation, she told him no and explained the earlier conversation she had had with an older man (likely that same man she was speaking to now) on the phone. The man said he had no record of her making any such arrangements with him, in fact at one point he told her that it may not even have been him talking to her- despite also explaining that he was the sole male employee working that day.
This is where things took a turn for the worse, and the man actually became quite hostile in his manner of tone and body language.
My mom was confused, as was I, and this gentleman began speaking rudely and argumentatively, telling us he was "fully booked" and had never spoken to my mother on the phone. When my mother began to protest this, saying that she in fact DID call, the man told her he would not, under any circumstance, be letting her a room. When asked why, the man said, verbatim: "I don't like your attitude".
The argument devolved even further from there, and the flip-flopping nature of this man's statements, the accusatory nature of his remarks, general unpleasantness, and then insistence that he may actually have a room open to us when I told him we would be leaving and were no longer interested in accomodations at his hotel.
I would be wary of staying in such a hospitality business' lodgings given the nature of the man- who, depending on what point in the argument we were at, may have been the owner himself. At the very least he was unnecessarily rude and increasingly hostile for no...
Read moredisgusting service, they always try to rob you somehow. We arrived here by truck at night, and immediately reported what we arrived on by filling out a questionnaire about transport, but it is not a large truck with 18 wheels, but a small one half the size, okay, they rented a room for us, without saying anything about the fact that we arrived by truck, that we need to pay something extra. They gave us a room for the disabled (there were many free places and he chose this room, due to the fact that there was a small misunderstanding due to the fact that nowhere it was indicated that there was a deposit of $ 100 in cash, we had to go to the end of the parking lot for cash, because they do not accept a card for a deposit), we came to room 103 and you know, it seems that this was the worst room, unfortunately I did not take a photo of this, but whoever spent the night there I think will confirm my words about this room. Firstly, it is worth noting that there was a cigarette butt mark on the bed (a burnt hole), secondly, you go into the toilet and there is a smell like mold, it is not very pronounced but it is present, the bathtub is dirty, the shower head is dirty, all black and yellow, it is on this unfortunate stand that is about to break, all the furniture in the room is no longer suitable for use due to its appearance, there is a black stain on the pillow. I think you understand what room I am talking about, which does not correspond at all with the declared photo and in Booking. In the morning we woke up, packed our things, went out of the room to the truck, and there a woman was already waiting for us who asked about the room number and went towards the main building, in the morning they met us and started talking in broken English that they had already paid us for your parking space from your deposit which is $100 - parking is $35, let me remind you that their parking lot was half empty, and also when we asked why they didn’t tell us yesterday, the answer was the same, that they had already deducted the money, they slipped us a paper with an agreement, he gave us $65 and told us to leave, the woman was standing nearby and nodding (who asked us from which room we were checking out, she was standing with a broom, but by the way there was nothing to sweep, but we still thought that she was a room cleaner). We left the office a little dissatisfied and upset since $35 is also money, we had already boarded the truck, he came out and started filming us, we did not give consent and did not violate anything. In general, it’s better not to come here, because this is also a scam and a robbery of your money. He also said that he would call the police if we don't leave. And also my boyfriend and I have itching all over our bodies after such a night, I...
Read moreRun down. Every fabric from towels to bedding stained. I let staff know on our first morning that my sink backed up, shower rod was broken so showers soaked the floors, someone had dumped garbage next to my car door, and there were gobs of goo on the walls.||I reminded staff later in the day but the only thing that was remedied during my stay was the garbage because I couldn't get into my car without stepping on it. ||Breakfast is really stingy. We travelled with teens who needed protein for big audition days ahead of them, but they would only refill them a couple of times for a completely booked hotel with many teens in the same position, so some kids went without. Little tiny cheap pastries were cut in half. Breakfast garbage overflowed and spilled onto floor. You had to get your hands dirty to open the door to the garbage. Gross. ||My friend stayed with her teen son and they were kept up all night by her neighbor who screamed that the beheadings were going to begin and the scraping of metal. Scary. They were moved the next day, but the first night's rest was lost before a big day of auditions so that was unsettling and distressing.||I'm including pics that show the threadbare towels, the filth from the floor after mopping up the shower spill from a broken shower rod, the state of the bed linens (they were so pilled it was like sleeping on sand), and a tiny sampling of the overall dinginess of the room. ||This was an opportunity for staff to wow a hotel full of travelers who will be in Concord most weekends all summer long for a band program. But I found out later that for the same price our group has a discount with Crown Plaza which gets mixed reviews, but I'm willing to give it a shot...
