Half Moon Inn — Restaurant in Clear Lake

Food: excellent Wait person came to table (at very back of dining area) 10 minutes after we sat down. She said she had not been told the table was hers. Her attitude was very good and she was personable.

Initially service was OK. Probably a 15 minute wait to get the bar drinks.

Appetizer came in reasonable time. Wife was ready for a second glass of wine. She forgot all about it and brought it after she brought food.

When she delivered food, asked if I'd like steak sauce. I said yes and then she said she would get it and get us more water. 15 minutes later, after I nearly finished my pork chops, the hostess brought it. I asked about water. She said she would get it right away. About 10 minutes later, the young man that had been pouring water at tables, happened by and we finally got water.

About 10 minutes after we had completed our meal, the hostess came by and dropped off the check. Another 8 minute wait before someone came for credit card.

Not our waitress, came back with card and receipt and pen then walked away. The individual had run the credit card for $54 less than actual bill. After another 5 minutes with no one to ask I finally walked up front and the bartender helped me.

I am a life long resident of Clear Lake. The meal at the half moon will be my LAST. My family was there last Wednesday. We arrived at 5:30 PM. Took a very long time to make our order as the staff was very busy. I tried to order the ribs but told they would not be cooked till 7:00 PM. The last time I was there I could only get a half order because that is all they had left. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast. 2 hours later the order came to the table. The hash browns were burnt to a crisp, the onions on the chicken were burnt black, the chicken was cold so the cheese was not melted. My wife and I stumbled upon the Half Moon Inn while traveling up I-35, and we're so glad we did! Google Maps led us here thanks to its good reviews, and they were well-deserved. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was really pleasant. The absolute highlight was the steak. The steak was truly excellent! The house salad was also fresh and delicious. Our only minor critique is regarding the pace; if you're in a hurry, this isn't the spot. We'd budgeted about 45 minutes for supper but ended up staying for closer to an hour and 45 minutes.
