The Other Place — Restaurant in Clear Lake

Went out with a couple of friends tonight and was not impressed with our service. We had one waitress greet us and take our drink and appetizer order then another waitress asked our original waitress if she was confused with her section because she accidentally took a table that wasn't hers. The second waitress continued to explain her section and why she might have been confused right in front of us while we were sitting there wondering who was going to take our order. The first waitress apologized and the second waitress insisted she would take our table and not the other waitress who already got our drink and appetizers order rang in.. After we placed our food order I was enjoying a beer then had to use the restroom and when I came back the waitress had taken my beer when there was some left in the glass. I had asked her where my beer was because I wasnt finished with it and she walked back to the bar where she had left it to dump and brings it back to my table to continue drinking. I told her no thank you, I wasnt going to drink a beer that she pulled off the bar and brought back to me because there was no way telling if it was actually mine.. I was kind of disgusted. I politely asked her if I could have another one and maybe have a discount on my next one because she had taken the first one I wasnt finished with. She told me she would talk to a manager. I got my ticket and there was no discount. I wasnt upset about not having a discount I was kind of upset because she didnt explain to me why there wasnt a discount which made me feel like she didnt even ask. I think we would have been better off with the first server who greeted us took our first orders rather than the one who insisted on taking us after the fact that the first girl had already done...

I don’t normally write & post reviews but my unfortunate incident with OP Sunday night for a call in order I placed for me to pick up has me so upset with no resolution from the owner or 2 managers. My family has owned a condo in Clear Lake for 26 years and have eaten in as well as mostly pick up orders. We have spent A LOT of money with OP over 26 years. I placed a pickup order Sunday night for a 2 topping medium pizza and 10 hot wings. I arrived 45 minutes to pickup and was told my order was made but given to someone else. Was told I could wait 30 minutes for new order. I had family waiting at home and couldn’t wait so had to go get fast food instead. Manager Christina did not offer any other solutions. Reached out to Brian the owner via email on Monday, no response. Tried calling Tuesday to restaurant and spoke to another manager, Katie. No one offered any assistance for my inconvenience. Ordered same pickup order tonight, Wednesday. Order was there for pickup and Katie offered $5 off my order. WOW! Really!? She set receipt in front of me and just walked away. You treat a 26 year customer with $5 off your order and act like it’s inconvenient for you! All I asked managers for was throw me a free pizza. And the owner can’t return an email or call me when both managers took my name & number. Thanks for your bad...

Came into The Other Place for some dinner before a comedy show that was down the road. We planned over an hour before the show to eat dinner. We arrived around 5:45 pm or so and the show started around 7.

First off, we got seated very fast. When we were seated, the waitress was bringing the 4 of us water glasses and of course bringing them all at the same time. One of them slipped and ended up dumping all over my wife and the table. First impressions were not great..

We did end up ordering drinks and receiving them. Ordering food was easy enough. But we never received our food after probably 30-45 mins after ordering.

Overall we were not impressed at all with the service or anything here. We noticed other tables leaving and thought they were just done with their meals, but that didn't seem like it was the case. We did notice all of the waiters in the kitchen so knew something was going on.

We probably will not be back. We were never up to date with how much longer on our food. We figured we would get comped one of the drinks at least esp for spilling one right away when we got to the table. We ending up having to go to the show that we drove over 2 hours to see with no food until...
