I probably wouldn’t go here if you have any food allergies.
I ordered online - to begin with, their menu does not list common allergens. I don’t demand that restaurants hardcore cater to people with food allergies (like dedicated kitchen spaces), but listing allergens, especially on a website, is just so easy to do and can at least help folks like me make informed decisions and avoid potentially dangerous situations.
I ordered a dish that I was pretty sure wouldn’t have gluten (I have Celiac disease) but to be sure, I mentioned it in the special instructions. When I picked it up, the person at the front assured me that the dish was gluten free. After taking it home and eating about 25% of it, the restaurant called to inform me that they had accidentally made mine with a gluten-containing ingredient (I’m guessing wheat in the seasoning??) and that they were in the process of preparing a new gluten-free one that I could return to pick up.
Props for the phone call, transparency, and attempt at making things right - but you just can’t be that way with food allergies. It’s lucky for them that eating gluten isn’t a life threatening situation for me and that I’m in a hospital with anaphylaxis or something, but gluten is quite adverse to my health and I’m definitely going to have a rough week this week symptom-wise.
One star to me for thinking I could fly blind at a restaurant that obviously doesn’t think too much about people with food allergies and doesn’t train their staff as such, but a tip to management if they want to stay in the food business: post allergens on your menu (it’s low-hanging fruit) and if you don’t have any confidence that you can avoid poisoning people with special dietary needs, then at least post disclaimers on your website, Toast, and inside the restaurant for guests like me to just avoid your...
Read moreCame here for the first time for the Brunch. Some of the fruits served, cantaloupe and Watermelon were not in season. Some of the food on the buffet was cold, Which it's a buffet so whatever. Took a while to get drinks or even acknowledged by a server. We had a reservation but the table they "saved" for us was still dirty so they sat us somewhere else. I've worked in lots of restaurants so I understand some things but at the buffet I went through 8 plates before I found a clean one. $90 was the price ($88 and some change) 2 adults and 3 kids, and the fountain drinks weren't included in buffet price. We didn't have any alcoholic beverages either. For what we paid I feel cheated this was my first and certainly my last time here. The ham, sausage and grapes were good. The pancakes were really dry, the syrup was nearly empty. Alot of the baked goodies were dried out, the dessert plates were also dirty. Some of the items were missing serving utensils. Just pretty disappointing. Our server was nice enough. It was fairly quiet when we went 11am. They gave us all water at the table. Some people won't agree with me and that's fine this is the experience I had and yes next time I definitely will just save myself the trouble and...
Read moreWe ate the Sunday Brunch and it was delicious. From the cheesy potatoes to the French toast everything offered was great. Our server, Courtney, was attentive and quick and very pleasant. I was pleased to see that she wasn’t the only one hustling. Tables were turned over quickly and drinks stayed full. The decor is welcoming and is a combination of sports bar and family restaurant. Booth or table seating are available. The stage is still there so I'm hoping to see live entertainment inside during the cold months and outside on the deck during the warm season. The bar is lit up a soft blue tone and full of all the nice bourbons that my husband prefers. My bloody Mary was ok. I loved the salted rim and the fixings but it could have been thicker. My husband ordered a smoked Old Fashion and loved it.
Properly trained wait-staff equals excellent customer service. Customer service so important to me and it determines my decision in returning to any restaurant or buddies in general. I will return and will recommend everyone visit the SG. Owners- well done and thank you.
