PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ. As I find myself searching for a good place for lunch in Clearfield (I don't come here often), Google suggests to me Spanky's... I will never give Spanky's my business again. This review is long overdue, since I only have ever eaten there once on July 14, 2017 with a special-needs adult for lunch. We went there thinking it was a good place since it seems a popular place with the locals... And that's part of the problem. We went in, found our seats, and waited for menus. Another group came in and sat at the table to our left, and the waitress gave them their menus. She acted busy, breezing past us but still finding time to talk to a large group on the other side of the room that I could tell through their conversation were regulars. Another group came in, and sat to our right. The waitress immediately came over and gave them menus. We had yet to be acknowledged. The waitress even returned to the table to our left and got their drink order. She left, got their drinks, and then finally came over and gave us menus. THIS IS POOR HOSPITALITY. Not to mention, highly disrespectful to an adult who has (obvious) intellectual disabilities. The food was okay with fair prices, but if the serving staff cannot treat new customers with respect and kindness, then nothing can replace that. Thank you for reading.

Read moreWe were doing a family weekend in a very rural area. Taking our time waking up and moving around, we missed breakfast at the place closest to us- twice! So we checked online and saw Spanky's; it was a half hour away, but we decided to take a chance, and it was SO worth it! The menu was huge- so much to choose from, and I had a seasonal special, pumpkin pancake, in addition to my omlette, as well as some grits, which you pretty much never see on northern breakfast menus. The portions were humongous! And the food was delicious, all served hot, and our fantastic server even brought me some cinnamon roll topping for the pancake (she thought I might like it as much as she did- yes, I loved it!) The food was so good that we were all trying each other's breakfasts; good thing, too, since there was no way that I could have finished all that food! Got what was left of my plate sized pumpkin pancake to go, and snacked on it later- still delicious! I loved everything about this place. A local, friendly, clean restaurant with friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a great atmosphere- can't wait to go back next time I'm up that way. Fair...
Read moreFor my first experience here, I have to say I'm highly disappointed. Doctors, nurses, and even registration personnel at Penn Highlands Clearfield highly recommended Spanky's for breakfast. I ordered eggs, toast, home fries, bacon, and hot tea. My over medium eggs were absolutely perfectly cooked and the thick sliced toast was great. Sadly, the home fries were not fully cooked and were hard and mostly raw in the center. The bacon was over cooked and came up burnt and extra crispy, which apparently is the norm for here. The tea was decent but clearly not a name brand variety. The waitress, Nichole, I believe, barely checked on me, and the atmosphere was a typical diner style, laid back and relaxed. The prices were actually far less than I had anticipated. The restroom was decently clean and it wasn't too horrible finding an empty on-street parking spot. Overall, I would recommend the eggs and toast. If you're the type that likes the extra crunchy bacon, then you would most likely enjoy it here. Based entirely on this single visit, I cannot recommend the...
