Star Cafe? More Like No-Star Cafe – A Hair-Raising Experience (Literally)
If you're looking for an overpriced exercise in patience, disappointment, and involuntary hair consumption, then Star Cafe is your spot. For the rest of us who enjoy edible food and basic human decency, avoid this place like a cold cup of instant coffee.
Let’s start with the drink fiasco. One of us ordered a coffee—you know, that hot, caffeinated beverage found at literally every diner since the dawn of breakfast—and what came out? A Coke. After correcting the server, the coffee finally arrived... eventually. That slow, inattentive service became the theme of the entire visit. Drink refills? Rare. Communication from staff? Nonexistent. Our table felt like a forgotten side quest in their poorly managed simulation.
As for the food, it took over an hour to arrive. That might be excusable if what came out was worth waiting for. Spoiler: it wasn't. Bland, lukewarm, and uninspired—I've had more flavorful meals at Denny's or IHOP. And as a cherry on top of this depressing sundae, multiple sides didn’t even make it to the table until we had already finished eating.
But wait—it gets worse. Three of us found hairs in our food. And not even the kind you can convince yourself maybe came from your own head. No—foreign, mystery hairs. Curious, I peeked into the kitchen (something I now regret), and surprise! Not a single hair net in sight. Honestly, it looked like a scene from a bad reality show where the health inspector is about to barge in.
When we brought this nightmare to the staff's attention, their response? A casual attempt to charge us full price—about $90 for all of our meals that made us all lose our appetite. After some negotiation, they knocked off 20%, but honestly, they should’ve been paying us for sticking it out.
Bottom line: Star Cafe has earned a spot on my “never again” list. Save yourself the disappointment (and the hairballs) and head anywhere but...

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. From start to finish, this dinner was an absolute disaster. The service was shockingly bad — our server couldn't have been more inattentive or disorganized. She brought out the wrong drinks and didn’t bother to correct the order until we were practically done eating. And when I say “eating,” I mean enduring a painfully long wait of over an hour just to get our food.
By the time our food finally arrived (well after other larger parties who ordered after us), it was a complete letdown. Multiple plates had HAIR on them — yes, actual hair. Not just one plate, but several. That alone should’ve been a dealbreaker, but we tried to power through as our server spent most of her time in the kitchen and we didn't want to wait another hour for our food to be made again. (We made sure to take pictures and shared them with the host after) Then, just when you think it couldn’t get worse, the sides we ordered didn’t show up until after we had already finished our main course. What’s the point?
There was absolutely no sense of urgency or professionalism from the staff.
Save your time, your money, and your appetite. This place is a mess and clearly doesn’t care about basic hygiene, timing, or...
Read moreI I have not gone to a greasy spoon in a very long time. My hopes were up my mother was taking me after some hospital stuff. They did not disappoint me. my mother had SOS and I had a croissant sandwich these were both breakfast. Cocoa was delicious. Moms tea was great! Mom loves the SOS it's made there and NOT overly pepperrie. Only one other restaurant does that good on SOS. Croissant was delicious.
I WOULD GIVE 5 STARS IF! I could suggest a way to keep people coming back?! for me it was the size of the Cocoa cup was like a little bitty coffee cup. As much as you pay for Coco and as much as you pay for coffee That's bottomless I was very disappointed in the tiny little Cocoa cup. The Crescent was soggy and cooked wrong. Sausage For a sandwich should not be big chunky pieces that fall out of a Croissant. Hash Browns were overcooked on the outside and way undercooked on the inside. These are all manageable problems I think besides that I did love the food. Simple tweaks and I'll be back let me know when you change the size of that Cocoa cup. If you want to have some of the best customer service this is the place! Thanks for a great...
