As a student who graduated here. The only good thing that came out of it is the friends I made. All of the things I learned I took separate classes after I graduated I learned hardly anything. There was always drama between the girls and even had someone steal my bowls and brushes I bought with my own money. The way they resolved it was ālooking at the camerasā I donāt think they did it and I know the person who took my stuff she also did inappropriate things and said very inappropriate things and still got to stay at the school there was really no such things as ā3 strikesā because I really donāt think someone should stay at school after trying to touch another student inappropriately. This school made me super depressed and at the end of it I really didnāt want to do hair anymore, luckily I met some amazing girls that kept me going and making me finish school and get my license and do hair and now I love it but every time I walk into this school to watch my friends graduate it gives me really bad anxiety. Please read the papers before you sign it because you think youāre paying a certain amount and then all of a sudden u have 2,000 more dollars to ur student loans. And the womenās bathroom is so disgusting I had to use the menās bathroom at times so I wouldnāt throw up. They are severely understaffed but keep putting more and more students into one class we could over power the instructor if we really wanted to. I watched them make a 8 month pregnant student stand for 7 hours a day and if she sat down for 5 seconds she would get yelled at and told to roll a perm WHILE STANDING! The instructors have favorites and you can always tell who it is because they make it obvious, only person that really cared about us is about to quit and the other already did. We went over stuff 1 TIME AND WAS TOLD TO REMEMBER IT BY WRITING IT DOWN. There are many times I went home crying to my mom telling her I canāt do it anymore. Please just wait 1 more year and join a professional school not one that is ran by men that donāt know anything about the beauty industry and just make bizarre rules to make the students and staffs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI understand this is a school and there will be errors. My complaint is towards the school and not the stylist. I went in a week prior to my event to get a balayage. The instructors guided the student completely wrong. Once my hair was finished I went home and noticed it was not a balayage at all. When I straightened my hair it was not even and had stripes and a very huge stripe down the middle. The coloring was not blended and looked awful. I contacted the school to let them know about the problem and stated that I had an event and I needed in ASAP. I was told it had to be approved by the director and the receptionist was going to let them know I needed in ASAP. The receptionist said it will take 1-2 days to hear from them. The receptionist also stated that if I wanted to pay they could get me in ASAP to fix it. Why would I want to pay for an error that was not done by me? I was never contacted and I called multiple times to get in touch with the director and was sent to voicemail every time. Finally I was contacted almost a week later. I ended up having to go to a professional salon to get it taken care of prior to my event. My hair appointment was on 7/3 and here it is 7/16 and still playing phone tag. I was contacted today by Greg to set up an appointment to correct it. I let him know I want a refund and was told they do not give refunds... He then went to see if Kelsey could take my call and he transferred me and I was sent to her voicemail. I called back and I let the receptionist know and she said Kelsey was in her office and she would transfer me... again sent to voicemail. I am requesting corporate to contact me about this and will see what they can do.... Again I understand this is a school and I am not complaining about the stylist I am complaining about how the school handles situations like this.
I have attached a photo of the was my hair was done and how the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was asked to come by and be a model for Kathryn at Avalon School of Cosmetology.
My experience was impeccable, it started off being greeted by the nice staff at the front desk making sure I was checked in okay and answered all of my questions. They asked me the COVID questions and took my temperature and I saw them sanitize frequently. Very clean and professional environment.
I was then approached by my stylist, Kathryn, and she took it from there. Firstly, I had to go and wash my hands and sanitize, which I greatly appreciate, again, it speaks volumes of their sanitization. Then we sat down and went over a consultation in-depth and she asked me what I wanted. I told her, and to my surprise she offered some reccomendations that I didn't even think about and it worked out great!
She took her time and was very pleasant to talk to. Her instructor, DeDe, was there the whole time offering suggestions and it made me feel very comfortable and was easy to talk too. Before we knew it, we were done and my hair looks great!
But it didn't stop there! After the haircut, Kathryn took me back and give me a scalp treatment, I suffer from horrible dandruff and it felt refreshing on my scalp, this was an awesome addition that I am not accustomed to and it was very relaxing. I even ended up buying some of the shampoo she used!
After that we went back to the chair and she styled my hair to my liking, and then took me to the front to schedule my next appointment! Very cost effective for myself and I really enjoyed the experience. I highly reccomend to stop by the school and ask...
