Blazing Bean Roasters — Restaurant in Clearwater

I ordered the Buy 2 Get 1 bundle and received my order 7 days after the roast date. I quickly tried the coffee the same day I got it and made some espresso. After a few espresso shots, I was unable to produce pressure and I made sure that my grind size and puck preparation were all good. I am not new to espresso and this is the first time I had this issue with freshly roasted specialty coffee beans. Upon checking the other 2 bags that I got, I believe I got an old batch of coffee that does not match the roast date on the bag. I was not able to produce crema and all my shots failed. There is 1 bag which is the Italian espresso blend dark roast that is a bit decent that is not too old compared with the other 2 bags. I contacted the seller and shared my findings and was told that they guarantee that their beans were fresh. Also, I was told that there was no correlation between the freshness of beans and espresso pressure which I strongly disagree with. Espresso requires finer grind size as the coffee bean ages and I have to grind way finer just to get a bit of pressure from their coffee. Lastly I tried to do a pour-over coffee and the coffee does not bloom enough during extraction considering it is only 1 week old which means the coffee I received has already degassed and was old. Seller was willing to do a refund if I send back the old coffee but I decided not to as it was not economical to spend more money and get a fraction of money in return. Update; New owner has very bad communication with customers. Wasn't there during posted hours, got angry when I asked where my order was. Nothing posted on door about change in hours, nor on Facebook or website.. Then she suddenly stopped selling green beans after we had been buying them for years from previous owner. The new owner apparently doesn't respect or care about home roasters... It's a shame. I've spent thousands of dollars with this company, I believe in supporting local businesses. Bread and butter are the little customers, but I guess the new owner has no idea what that means. All the best to her. Very disappointed and kind of sad after all these years. Oh well..

I had the pleasure of trying a new blend the Tanzanian peaberry. It was my first cup with Blazing Bean. Boy, did it knock my socks off! I normally enjoy cold brews as I don't care for the burnt after flavor most hot brews have. The owner Kristen talked me into trying it hot and I'm glad she did. It tasted sweet with absolutely no funny after flavors or that burnt bitterness I loathe. If it tasted that great hot, I'm calling it now that it would make the PERFECT cold brew blend. If you want a great cup of joe do yourself a favor and get your coffee here. Forget Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or any other coffee chains. You have been duped into thinking those places are "good" coffee. Wait until you try the beans here. Fresh roasted is literally the bees knees.
