I LOVE this place. It's a rescue sanctuary so everytime you go you never know what animals they will have that they are nursing back to health. We saw alot of owls, an eagle, all kinds of animal skins inside the main building along with fish and very clean bathrooms. The staff was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my kids many questions. They also have a playground and walking trails. Although i will say the walking trails need to be better labeled with signs telling you which way to go. Because we ended up lost i guess and at a dead end and had to double back around when we were under the impression that thw trails wrapped back around. On a HOT day we weren't expecting that, didn't have any water bottles with us and i must say with 3 young kids and my father with us it quickly turned into a stressful situation trying to find our way out of there. Don't forget to check out Butterfly garden which was neat to see so many buttetflies in one place and they had a board up so you can identify the different butterflies. And watch out for alligators along the trail by one of the 2 lakes. They are often spotted they say, although all we saw were ALOT of turtles swimming. Thankfully too.........highly...
Read moreLove this place! Awesome nature Preserve hidden in the middle of residential neighborhood close to the Bay in Clearwater off of Drew Street. This is my second time coming here and it’s actually closed on Monday so I didn’t get a check for baby gators I didn’t see any gators. But their bird sanctuary is awesome the eagle will hop across and come up to you and talk to you! There’s a herd of peacocks everywhere that will follow you! Today I saw river otters but couldn’t get video or pictures of them cause they were so fast. There’s so many wild different animals here that are hidden amongst everything that are hard to spot but it’s fun place to explore, it’s a great place to get exercise and walk, its nature at its best in the middle of a residential neighborhood you can’t even tell you’re in a neighborhood. They also have a butterfly exhibit I think a bad exhibit also and they have classrooms they have reptile showings! Can’t wait to go back I’m gonna start going to hear more often! Thank you for taking care of all the animals here moccasin like nature park and please keep up...
Read moreI consider myself so fortunate for having to visit such amazing Nature Trails here in Florida. Ever since I moved here, I had been to numerous excellent Nature trails in my neighborhood & without a doubt, Moccasin Lake Nature Park is one of those.
A bit Compact in terms of area, however, It’s an abode for Peafowls, they keep roaming around in the Park eating or dancing, some probably flaunting how so beauteous they are. Multiple Wild Birds including Hawk, Owls, Eagles staying quietly in their Sheds, Moreover, there’s a Playground for kids. My family & I had a wonderful time exploring the Park & Wildlife, I also encountered A baby Turtle.
