Let's say you want a nacho platter. Y'know, nachos with meat, tomatoes, cheese and beans on top. So you go to this dump in a bad neighborhood and order a nacho platter.
What do you get?
Very stale nachos mixed with not-so-stale nachos topped with obviously several week-old tomatoes, and steak with all sorts of terrible gristle. Horrid parts of the steak are like shoe leather; extremely hard to chew and tasteless.
So what happens when you want pork quesedillas with beans and rice for a side? You don't get beans. You also don't get rice. Instead, you get a half-assed excuse for mexican cuisine.
The place is rancid and very dirty, you can't see much of the kitchen, but let me tell you; I'll bet that there are several health code violations there. Just by the mere glimpse of what I've seen back there, it looks like a total hole. Imagine hundreds of cockroaches (dead or alive), mice, spiders, and a generally dirty and unkempt kitchen. I will NOT be eating here again. I've tried it a few times, and each time was full of disappointment.
The health inspector needs to take a look at this dump. It's been shut down before, about 2-3 years ago due to health concerns. From the looks of things, they haven't...

To find great Mexican food you have to look off the beaten path, you won't find it in the mall, at a stand-alone restaurant or any place that slathers their food with cheese food sauce.
Our experience at el Huarache Azteca was simply delightful! Our 2 year-old son loved the Mariachi band that was playing. Their chips are obviously homemade as they are thicker than the machine pressed tortillas you find elsewhere. We ordered a bowl of guacamole to share and it was very fresh and delicious with large chunks of chopped onion, tomato and cilantro. The kids and I opted for tacos, the kids each had chicken, I chose al Pastor, which was delicious! +DanielleMerriott chose to have chicken quesadilla which had an ample portion and also quite tasty with queso blanco and braised chicken.
The food was a great value, the four of us leaving very well satisfied for about $35 after a generous tip. We will happily...
Read moreFirst time visiting this establishment and I wasn't overly satisfied. My husband and I are Mexican food junkies and love to try new Mexican restaurants. I was first surprised by the small fining area, but it was decorated beautifully. Then came the chips and salsa. NOT overly impressed. Although I loved the homemade chips...the salsa wasn't what I would call good....but it wasn't disgusting. My husband on the other hand hated both. For our dinner my husband had the Steak Nachos Aztecas...which was huge and good. I had the steak chimichanga and loved it! We then ordered cheese dip because we didn't like the salsa. It was yellow. Not white con queso like you usually have at Mexican restaurants. It was like melted velveeta...with a few spicy tomatoes. Not the best. Soo...overall...it was okay. Not the best...but the main...
