Update: We’ve been going to this skyline location for over a decade, first at the location near republic and US HWY 19 and now at Gulf to Bay.

The last (3) visits over a span of 2-3 months has been horrible. The food is still great but their are clear issues with management and staffing.

The first visit, we were informed that the waitress left in tears after an altercation with a customer. The dining area was fairly full so we left to go somewhere else.

The second visit there was (1) waitress serving the entire restaurant while (4-5) staff members were just standing in the kitchen area. The waitress was beyond stressed and don’t understand why the kitchen staff couldn’t help her out. We stayed knowing that we would need to be patient.

Our third visit (September 30th), granted it is right after hurricane Ian. But the same waitress was waiting on the entire restaurant while 4-5 staff members were just standing in the kitchen area socializing with each other. The waitress was so stressed that she wasn’t waiting on people in the order that they arrived. We ended up leaving after waiting 15 minutes and she ended up serving someone who just arrived.

My heart goes out to the waitress and hope that help will be provided.

I have a couple of years working at different restaurants and shame on the employees and management not prompting or providing cross training in situations like this. I understand that staffing is hard but there is a big issue when you see employees standing around socializing with each other for a solid 15 minutes while (1) person person is working very hard.

To be honest, I doubt I will be back any time soon, along with a few other friends and family members who have had similar experiences.

Original Review (2021):

Being originally from Ohio, this skyline is a little slice of home since I don’t make it up north as much as I used to.

The staff is generally friendly and are quick to deliver the food to the table.

We’ve had success with phoning in an order for pick up since they are on my way home.

And even stopping in to place an order and take home is fairly quick as well.

Our go to meal is cheese coneys (all the way), regular chili spaghetti, and cheese fries.

And trust me… they don’t scrimp on the...

My wife and I popped into Skyline Chili for lunch, and let me just say, it was like walking into our own little Cheers – you know, the place where everybody knows your name (or at least makes you feel like they do). Our waitress, Rosa, was the absolute best – super friendly, with the kind of attitude that makes you feel like you’re right at home. And of course, the food came out fast, because that’s what they’re known for. I mean, we barely had time to finish the conversation before the plates were in front of us!

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: The Skyline Chili Spaghetti – or as I like to call it, “The Chili Mountain.” Picture this: a mountain of spaghetti topped with their signature chili, loaded with onions, and blanketed in a glorious pile of shredded cheese. It’s a Midwest masterpiece that I didn’t know I needed in my life until I moved to Clearwater, but now I’m hooked.

We absolutely went to town on that dish. By the end, we were so full that we were basically rolling out of the booth, but the best part? We had enough leftovers for lunch the next day, and trust me, I was already looking forward to it before we even left. Skyline Chili is one of those places where the food is so good, you’re already planning your next visit (and next meal) while you’re still eating.

Whether you’re craving chili-topped spaghetti, chili-smothered potatoes, or just want to see how much chili a hot dog can hold, Skyline Chili is the place to be. Quick service, friendly faces, and food that hits the spot every single time. If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor and get there – your taste buds...

Radio talk show host Mike Gallagher raves about Ski Line chili dogs as the best in the world, so I had to try it .The facilities were clean and the staff was fairly helpful but not knowledgeable about gluten and other food allergens in the food when asked about the ingredients, but did get some answers when the waitress asked the manager. I ordered a chili dog , it is the smallest adult chili dog I have ever seen, it was perhaps three to four inches long in total length. It was smothered with extremely fine, elongated shredded cheese which gave the impression of lots of cheese but it is mostly air. I seen other entree's have similar cheese topping, it must be their hallmark feature. The chili sauce I believe had allspice as one of the dominant spices, it was difficult to ascertain as the hot dog provided only three bites. I am still a fan of Mike Gallagher, it's a matter of taste, and we shall agree to disagree. If you are feeding an infant or a small child then the dog size is adequate, the dog did not even extend to the ends of the bun. I didn't know that the image in the small menu was enlarged to show detail. The two other guests ordered the chili and black bean chili, it was cold, sticky and not good. In conclusion, the food was below fair in taste and quality, and poor rating in quantity. I do not know if this particular store is representative of the whole food chain, but I was not favorably impressed and would recommend the hungry public...

First time trying this place as I am always looking for great chili. The place was big for a chili dog place but was very clean. The food is prepared in the front. I ordered a to go ordered. I ordered 4 coney dogs and large 4 way spaghetti. This came up to $32 with tip. This is the first time I had a Hot dog slider. They have the smallest hot dog I have ever seen. I am not even sure what the hot dog is made of as I can’t tell if it was beef, pork, chicken or vegetarian? The amount of cheese really over powers any bite of hot dog. The to go spaghetti dish was more of a side dish than a plate of spaghetti. The service was great as the guy at the counter was very attentive and quick to prepared my food. It looks like whoever takes the order also makes the food. If you like cheese, this is definitely the place to come. The cheese is freshly cut and they give you a lot of it. Overall, I am not exactly sure why this place appeals to a lot of people. They need to increase the hot dog size where it should be bigger than the bun. Wendy’s chili is still so much better. The portion is so much smaller when you order to go than if you ordered for dining in. They should increase the size of the to go ordered. My overall opinion is that it fails in food quality and value. Very expensive for what you get. The service and the establishment is very clean. I would not come back but glad to see others like it.

Hey...its Skyline time! Being from Cincinnati, we look forward to going to pick up or drop folks off at the airport. This gives us an excuse to get our Skyline fix. We love it! The serving sizes are noticeably smaller than what we get in Ohio, but it's still enough to fill us up. We do "split" the 3-way as it's cheaper than 2 of the small ones, and we divvy up the coneys, so don't judge those plates, ha ha. The chili has a "slightly" different taste than what we get up north. I've been told the chili is concentrated, so the local water likely tastes different. Also, Cincinnati Skyline Chili is never frozen, whereas it must be frozen due to distance for FL, and freezing food always changes the flavor of spices some. Though it's slightly different, we are always happy with the hour forty-five minute drive, each way, to get our Skyline Chili. We are delighted they are in FL.

This is a great place to try something different! We came in here with an open mind and knew the chili was not going to be our usually hearty/meaty chili. Southern chili is a lot different and uses different spices for the flavor. Our waitress could not have been any friendlier! As soon as she knew we were “first timers” she requested a chili 3-way sample for us! This sample sold us on two regular size meals! The chili here surprised us with how great it tasted. It was almost like a Japanese curry (sweeter/cinnamon taste) yet had a great flavor when mixed with the spaghetti base and pile of cheese up top! I added beans for an additional try and it turned out to be a great decision. Between the delicious food and the friendly staff, we definitely plan on coming back here and bringing friends! Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
