Update: Weâve been going to this skyline location for over a decade, first at the location near republic and US HWY 19 and now at Gulf to Bay.
The last (3) visits over a span of 2-3 months has been horrible. The food is still great but their are clear issues with management and staffing.
The first visit, we were informed that the waitress left in tears after an altercation with a customer. The dining area was fairly full so we left to go somewhere else.
The second visit there was (1) waitress serving the entire restaurant while (4-5) staff members were just standing in the kitchen area. The waitress was beyond stressed and donât understand why the kitchen staff couldnât help her out. We stayed knowing that we would need to be patient.
Our third visit (September 30th), granted it is right after hurricane Ian. But the same waitress was waiting on the entire restaurant while 4-5 staff members were just standing in the kitchen area socializing with each other. The waitress was so stressed that she wasnât waiting on people in the order that they arrived. We ended up leaving after waiting 15 minutes and she ended up serving someone who just arrived.
My heart goes out to the waitress and hope that help will be provided.
I have a couple of years working at different restaurants and shame on the employees and management not prompting or providing cross training in situations like this. I understand that staffing is hard but there is a big issue when you see employees standing around socializing with each other for a solid 15 minutes while (1) person person is working very hard.
To be honest, I doubt I will be back any time soon, along with a few other friends and family members who have had similar experiences.
Original Review (2021):
Being originally from Ohio, this skyline is a little slice of home since I donât make it up north as much as I used to.
The staff is generally friendly and are quick to deliver the food to the table.
Weâve had success with phoning in an order for pick up since they are on my way home.
And even stopping in to place an order and take home is fairly quick as well.
Our go to meal is cheese coneys (all the way), regular chili spaghetti, and cheese fries.
And trust me⊠they donât scrimp on the...
Read moreMy wife and I popped into Skyline Chili for lunch, and let me just say, it was like walking into our own little Cheers â you know, the place where everybody knows your name (or at least makes you feel like they do). Our waitress, Rosa, was the absolute best â super friendly, with the kind of attitude that makes you feel like youâre right at home. And of course, the food came out fast, because thatâs what theyâre known for. I mean, we barely had time to finish the conversation before the plates were in front of us!
Now, letâs talk about the star of the show: The Skyline Chili Spaghetti â or as I like to call it, âThe Chili Mountain.â Picture this: a mountain of spaghetti topped with their signature chili, loaded with onions, and blanketed in a glorious pile of shredded cheese. Itâs a Midwest masterpiece that I didnât know I needed in my life until I moved to Clearwater, but now Iâm hooked.
We absolutely went to town on that dish. By the end, we were so full that we were basically rolling out of the booth, but the best part? We had enough leftovers for lunch the next day, and trust me, I was already looking forward to it before we even left. Skyline Chili is one of those places where the food is so good, youâre already planning your next visit (and next meal) while youâre still eating.
Whether youâre craving chili-topped spaghetti, chili-smothered potatoes, or just want to see how much chili a hot dog can hold, Skyline Chili is the place to be. Quick service, friendly faces, and food that hits the spot every single time. If you havenât tried it yet, do yourself a favor and get there â your taste buds...
Read moreRadio talk show host Mike Gallagher raves about Ski Line chili dogs as the best in the world, so I had to try it .The facilities were clean and the staff was fairly helpful but not knowledgeable about gluten and other food allergens in the food when asked about the ingredients, but did get some answers when the waitress asked the manager. I ordered a chili dog , it is the smallest adult chili dog I have ever seen, it was perhaps three to four inches long in total length. It was smothered with extremely fine, elongated shredded cheese which gave the impression of lots of cheese but it is mostly air. I seen other entree's have similar cheese topping, it must be their hallmark feature. The chili sauce I believe had allspice as one of the dominant spices, it was difficult to ascertain as the hot dog provided only three bites. I am still a fan of Mike Gallagher, it's a matter of taste, and we shall agree to disagree. If you are feeding an infant or a small child then the dog size is adequate, the dog did not even extend to the ends of the bun. I didn't know that the image in the small menu was enlarged to show detail. The two other guests ordered the chili and black bean chili, it was cold, sticky and not good. In conclusion, the food was below fair in taste and quality, and poor rating in quantity. I do not know if this particular store is representative of the whole food chain, but I was not favorably impressed and would recommend the hungry public...
