This place should shut down until they can hire an executive chef, new kitchen staff, and remodel the entire inside. The tables, chairs, floor, walls, lighting and music are as dated and grungy as their food. I never ever write reviews, however I took my daughter and grandkids to dinner last night and was embarrassed and disgusted by the food and atmosphere. The tables, chairs and floor are scratched and dirty. Needed replacement several years ago. Country music was playing at a decibel level making conversation difficult. The food is at industrial public school level and that's being generous. My grandson had the kids chicken tenders. He ate one and wouldn't eat the other. This is a kid that can eat a half pound of tenders in minutes. I understood why he wouldn't eat it after I took a bite. The chicken tender was 50% breading and 50% processed chicken meat. The type a school district might buy in 20lb bulk bags. The worst of the 6 meals ordered was the beef fajitas. This is easily one the most simple dishes to prepare. Skirt steak cut in 1/2 strips, 2 colors of bell pepper, onions and marinade, cooked on high-medium heat and served sizzling to the table. Not at La Cima. Some cheap cut of flat, rubbery beef, coated in a packaged fajita dry rub and served luke warm. Not sure how they heated it up. It looked like it was heated in an oven or microwave. The meat was so heavily coated in a rub that you could wipe it off with a napkin. The meat was not eatable. It was like chewing rubbery gum. After 30 seconds of chewing I had to pull it out of my mouth. I tried cutting the meat in smaller slices, but same results. The plates all came with the traditional rice and beans, however as in the main entrees, very little thought goes into quality. Just dried out, flavorless plate filler. There's got to be 15+ restaurants serving mexican cuisine in Cleburne. Why own a restaurant if you can't commit to doing it right. You would do better limiting your menu to 15 exceptional entrees that are unique in quality, presentation and dining experience way above the competition. Only an experienced chef could...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here this morning. Let me tell you, we are very particular about our Mexican food. This place is a hidden secret that shouldn't be hidden any longer!!! The decor was simple not your typical Mexican restaurant. The service was good but there weren't many people, so we need to change that... Our experience was great from the first sip of coffee. I too am particular about my coffee. Ask my husband he'll tell you, I'm a coffee snob! The coffee was excellent, hot, bold but not too strong. I had two cups and drank every drop. I don't ever have two cups. The chips were warm, crispy, fresh and just plain good AND let me TELL YOU THE SALSA was outstanding! It was full of flavor and not so spicy you couldn't enjoy it. Now they also served, what I think was an avocado pureed salsa that kicked up the spiciness another two levels. It was awesome. My huband order the Huevos Rancheros. The presentation alone was delightful. He really enjoyed his meal and would order it again. I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered the breakfast enchiladas. The name intrigued me. I was sooooo glade that I did. You can order the enchiladas with your choice of chorizo (a Mexican sausage), ham or bacon. I ordered the chorizo. The enchiladas were stuffed with chorizo and eggs and smothered, one in ranchero sauce and the other in a tomatillo sauce. I preferred the tomatillo sauce. It was served with a side of ranchero beans and small rosette potatoes sautéed with onions, jalapeños and tomatoes. I enjoyed every bite! The icing on this dinning experience was when the waitress and the owner/cashier both thanked us for coming and said, "Have a blessed day!" Yes, I'll take that blessing and we'll be back to experience, what we hope will be an outstanding...
Read moreMy husband and I have been talking about trying this place for months and finally got some time to come in today. We invited a friend to come with us so while we waited for her to arrive my husband went inside to get us a table. The host sat him at a four top in the middle of the restaurant, and when my friend and I got inside we informed the host we were with him and sat down. My friend had to carry a high chair for her son even though two staff members were right there and neither offered to assist her. She was also never offered a kids menu. There were regular menus and silverware at the table for us, and a staff member from the kitchen brought us chips and salsa. This was the last time we were remotely acknowledged by any of the staff the rest of our visit. Every server saw us, made eye contact with us, but no one never visited our table to offer us drinks or take our order. One waitress was chatting with a customer who had finished his meal and other servers were either bussing tables or rolling silverware. It certainly was not busy and there were no more than two tables per server. After almost half an hour of waiting patiently and watching people who came in after us be served, we decided to go somewhere else. This was really disappointing because we were excited to try the food here. The host did not even acknowledge us as we left. I do not know what the issue was here but I really hope it was not the color of my husband’s skin that caused us to not be served today. We went to another restaurant down the street and we were served immediately. So I’m very confused as to why we were not...
