We have never been to a Zaxby's before. We had seen locations before, but honestly didn't know anything about them. We recently found out that they were about chicken. We like to try different places that we have never been before. So we decided to try this Zaxby's for lunch. I was impressed with a lot about this Zaxby's. When we first walked in, it appeared clean, from what I had seen. There was an issue with the soft drink machine that had a huge pile of ice. When you pressed the the ice bar, it dumped a lot of ice. Way too much ice with one push. As such, the machine was full of ice where you want to fill your cup with ice and drink. Not just a full cup of ice and then some. I'm sure this was just a glitch and was probably rectified already. Zaxby's has a small menu on the wall behind the counter. We found it quite hard to read. We also didn't have a clear understanding of what they were saying on the menu either. Then the third issue: We both had a difficult time understanding the women behind the counter. She spoke very softly, along with trying to understand the menu, made our ordering fairly difficult. That in itself led to us getting something different than we wanted and thought we were ordering. Ok, that's the somewhat negatives. The positives: Zaxby's does chicken. That's it. But they do it very good. They do not seem to play around with burgers or hot dogs and what ever else. They just concentrate on what they do good, chicken. Our lunch was quite good. The fries could be crispier and could use some or more seasoning. But the chicken, fries and toast, that I ordered was better than I had expected. The chicken fingers were very good. The wife ordered something that turned out to be different than she thought. But we didn't say anything. Her sandwich was good, according to her. She didn't like the pickle on the sandwich, while at the same wondered why there wasn't some other greens or such on the sandwich. I guess that's where personal taste comes into play. Personally, I don't care for any greens or such on a chicken sandwich. Again, personal preference. The dining area had a nice mix of tables and booths. But more importantly, was roomy and not crowded like a lot of these types of restaurants. So navigating the dining room to a seat, didn't have you brushing up against people, or running a maze to get to your seat. When they didn't have folks ordering lunch, at least one employee was in the dining room wiping down tables and such. And the whole place did appear quite clean. We both went to the restrooms to wash our hands after the chicken. And we both noticed that the restrooms appeared clean as well. So other than the ice situation and a hard to see and clearly understand menu. This Zaxby's was kept nice. Well done to the employees who make this happen. Again, I will say that I was impressed with this Zaxby's. I'm sure not every Zaxby's franchise will be up to these standards. But this Zaxby's was a nice clean place with very good chicken. Other than a couple of minor issues, they surprised us. And it's funny how we put off finding out what they were about or trying them for quite a while. They were a nice surprise. Well done. I just hope the next Zaby''s we will definitely visit will...
Read moreHad never been to Zaxby's before and, based on today's overall experience, it will be the first and last time.
Firstly, what chicken place, esp one which has fried chicken on a bun, doesn't have pickles?
Second, while the chicken itself at least had decent flavor, it was hardly "indescribably good." It was average, and nothing set it apart from any other fast food joint specializing in chicken.
Third, unlike the picture hanging on the wall with French fries which appeared golden and crispy, my fries were flabbingly soft and only hot from sitting in the bin - they weren't fresh (in spite of only 2 other parties in the restaurant, and they were well on the way with their meals).
To top off my less than stellar meal, I went to refill my diet soda, only to find the drink machine was devoid of any low calorie options. So, I went to the counter to let someone know, and, although I was there well before the next lady walked up and said the same thing, the young lady behind the counter refilled her drink first. Um, what? Why would I come up to you, inform you the drink machine is empty, and you not ask me if I want a refill from behind the counter, like the lady BEHIND me? I do not understand what is wrong with people today. I'm not sure there was a manager there, and if there was, he/she didn't seem too interested in helping with the issue either, or ensuring their customer's satisfaction.
If this is the kind of service and poor food quality you guys serve on a regular basis, I'm befuddled at how you're still open for business...
I should've followed my first instinct and visited PDQ down the road. Next time I'm in the mood to try something new, I'll go...
Read moreDear Zaxby’s Customer Service,
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at one of your locations on 11/9/24 I visited the store at approximately 10pm to enjoy a meal, but upon arrival, I was informed that the restaurant had closed one hour earlier than the posted closing time of 11pm
When I inquired with the staff about why they closed early, I was met with an unhelpful and dismissive response. The employees seemed uninterested in providing any clear explanation or offering assistance, which I found both frustrating and unprofessional. It was particularly upsetting given that I had made the effort to visit based on the advertised hours, only to be turned away without a valid reason.
As a loyal customer, I expect better communication and service from Zaxby’s. I understand that unforeseen circumstances may sometimes lead to schedule changes, but I believe it is essential for customers to be informed when such changes occur, either in advance or through proper signage at the location.
I would appreciate a response to this matter, as well as clarification on why the restaurant closed early and what actions will be taken to ensure this situation does not happen again. Additionally, I hope that Zaxby’s will provide better training to staff on handling such situations with courtesy and professionalism.
Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your...
