Assad's is an iconic westside neighborhood staple owned by brothers Mike and Fred Assad. The menu here is incredibly varied and offers as much vegan food as it does other traditional middle eastern fare. There's a great and affordable grocery selection with import products that are hard to find elsewhere—from tahini and za'atar to lemons and (vegan!) baklava.
Assad's has a dedicated staff of chefs and bakers who keep amazing food coming every day. Chef Pierre makes the shawarmas from scratch and is a no doubt a master of his craft. The hummus, falafel, and grape leaves aren't just the best in the area, they're the best I've ever had. This also applies to their bakery products: the spinach pies are unbelievable. Fresh from the bag or at home in the air fryer - we have a bag on hand at all times. There's a wide array of traditional breads, including at least three different types of pitas, manakeesh, and more. Everything here is made in-house pretty much daily which is incredibly rare these days. And with that being said, the prices are incredibly fair for the quality of food and service you receive.
After many visits, Assad's was hired to cater the wedding for my wife and I. We ordered a large amount of food for 150 people and they had everything ready to go before the quoted time. On top of that, one of our drivers forgot a pan of food and Mike drove the pan to the wedding himself! You can't find or beat that kind of service anywhere. Our wedding was on the day of a once-in-400-years eclipse and yet the memory of the wedding from most of the guests is the food!
Assad's is a must visit if you're in the Cleveland area. This place is an absolute gem. Stop in and say hello to the friendly staff and support local, family owned...
Read moreThey had deliberately put hot peppers & tabasco sauce in our Falafel sandwiches and never took responsiblity for their own actions. Their service was rude,..this includes the owner & deli worker. I truly really have a gut feeling it is a way of their treatment of Christian Palestinians. They will always have a hatred of Christian Palestinians. Maybe it's Envy. Christianity was in Palestine way before Islam arrived. I have no problems with eating spicy foods, but my Wife does. True story,...in the past, my Uncle, who was first in line at Assad's one day, had an issue with the owner due to the fact that the owner refused to serve him first because he was of the Christian faith and not Islamic. My Uncle refused to stay quiet and told the owner off in front of his Islamic customers. The owner of the Assad's felt ackward and embarrased, then reacted very apologetic to my Uncle. This incident was told to me and my Wife one night during a routine visit at my Uncle's home, by my Uncle. At first, I hesitated and wasn't sure what to believe, whether this really actually happened.,..until I experienced it my own self at the same place. My Uncle doesn't lie. He has always told the Truth. Truth always prevails. End...
