Was super excited to try this restaurant as the reviews are really great overall. We like to try a variety of things and bring home the extras so I feel like we tried a lot! Started off with the hot and sour soup. This was overall the best item we had! The flavor was perfect as was the consistency and texture of vegetables and tofu. Then we shared a spring roll order and crab Rangoon. Both “good”, not better than average. If anything, they both were excessively greasy . To be fair, they are both a fried item, so perhaps being too critical. I thought the spring rolls were nice , but the inside was all mushy. Just an odd texture. The crab Rangoon tasted very good but a lot of extra grease taste. Couldn’t eat the edges, just the center.
My son had the sesame chicken. Tasted like a sweet and sour chicken. Pretty disappointed. In fact he didn’t even eat it at all. I had the bok choy with shiitake mushrooms and that was very good.
We took an order of beef with rice noodles home for another person later and that tastes absolutely awful. Perhaps a bad idea for a to go item? The meat is gelatinous and the noodles are like a paste. Honestly will throw it away. Last item we tired and almost forgot was the beef kabob. Since kabob is in the name of restaurant, thought it would be a must try!! Again, no good. The meat has a jelly like texture. And the flavor was very peppery. Forced myself to eat one. I probably won’t come back , as there are so many others to try. Not a bad experience, I just think you need to read reviews to know what to order. This order came to $89 plus tip.
I will say they were very kind and the service was very good. Parking can be difficult as there are 4 businesses in this small plaza but I believe you can park on the side streets too.there was one handicapped spot in the lot. See pics...
Read moreKoko Bakery has been a frequent stopping point whenever I'm in Cleveland so Han Chinese Kabob & Grill caught my eye being right next door. The food was beyond belief.
The wood ear salad was a light and refreshing appetizer that masterfully combined sesame oil, cilantro, and green onion with the unique texture of the wood ear mushroom.
One of the appetizers I can only describe as being like a Chinese doughnut with a sweet dipping sauce. We actually didn't know what we had ordered and were very surprised with what came out. However, our surprise quickly changed to delight from the first bite to the last.
Other dishes ordered: Potstickers which were freshly made with a nice sear and a well balanced savory sauce. Peking duck which was actually a 3 course meal, a light bean sprout salad with shredded duck meat, a delicious duck bone soup with cabbage/ginger/cilantro, and the traditional crispy and juicy sliced duck breast served with Chinese pancakes. Korean-style noodles which were incredible enough that I will never not order a noodle dish anytime I come here. Sauteed Pork Intestines in spicy sauce which had a perfect crunch in every bite and served with some pickled veggies. And the kabobs lamb/beef/squid which were all quite tender and packed a cumin-heavy flavor, which was not at all unsatisfying.
The menu is vast and they have specials on the wall as well so it will take me a long time to experience everything this place has to offer. But I can't recommend the food enough and will be hard pressed not to make this my staple food stop after any Cleveland outing.
Edit: I have since added the Hongsue Beef Brisket and the Lamb or Fish in spicy Szechuan sauce to my list of favorites. There is also a good selection of vegetarian dishes that are...
Read moreThe boss is rude and not helpful but the servers are very nice.
I brought my students to eat on a field trip and I called three times before I went and ask how to arrange things. After we arrived, the boss blamed me that I should organize in a different way but they never told me the way she preferred.
I was helping serve the food during the entire time because I wanted my students have a good time ( I didn’t eat at all). However, the boss didn’t appreciate having so many people and was telling me they had parities before but never like this. I want to clarify that my students are very well behaved and very patient even some of them waited for a long time getting food and paying the bill. After we got school, they told me the food is good.
When the school bus was waiting for us, I asked the boss if she can help to finish some payment. She said I have other customers and I didn’t just have you in a rude tone. And I looked around there was only one customer in there except us. It took us half an hour to get through the payment. She was just standing and did nothing. It’s only one server running and helping us.
This was my favorite restaurant and I love the food. But I will not go back because of the boss. I do want to say that the food is very good, and servers are really nice and I appreciate their help.
For future reference, don’t take many people there even if you called because the boss won’t...
