Our group was in search of a restaurant we could all meet up with in downtown Cleveland and then split off to see the Muppets Christmas carol at severance hall and the other to see the Monsters play at rocket mortgage field house. Thai sounded amazing to all of us and we have been wanting to try Map of Thailand for awhile.
We used Google assistant to make a reservation for our part of 7 and that process was very painless. When we arrived, the restaurant already had our tables setup for our party and were ready for us. It's a cozy location but we had plenty of space and we were quite comfortable.
The staff was very attentive and ensured our beverages stayed full and also brought a bottle of water so we could also refill as needed.
Menu is available via a QR code on the table that takes you to their website and menu. Our party ordered several appetizers before we were ready to actually order our meals. Those came out quickly and every single dish we got was amazing.
I ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken and was very excited to try it out. Our meals also came out quickly and extremely fresh. The rice was phenomenal and was easily one of my favorite fried rice I have had in years. Everyone in our party loves their respective meals. Pricing on everything was very reasonable.
Overall, the entire party absolutely enjoyed the food and the experience and would emphatically recommend Map of Thailand if you are in the mood for some...
Read moreCame into a nearly empty restaurant today around 5:20 pm. There was one guest sitting at a table. We asked for a table for 6. The waitress asked if we had reservations. There was an empty table for 6 literally right by the door. We told her that we did not have reservations. She told us that she’d have to check to see if they had room for us. Leaving to go to the back she disappeared for a bit and when she came back she told us that they could seat us.
I’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants in my day, but I’ve never felt so much like I inconvenienced someone by coming in to eat in their restaurant. We weren’t given menus and were left alone for 15 minutes to look at each other. We looked at the website- no indication that reservations were required. This is a Thai restaurant in Asia Town, not Nobu or something. There were literally like 10 empty tables which remained mostly empty for the entirety of our visit. Honestly I was so annoyed that I wanted to leave to eat at Dagu and or Han BBQ next door, both superior restaurants, but my wife convinced me to stay. To be clear, I never want to leave restaurants before ordering. But it was frankly insulting to be treated this way in an empty restaurant while my kids told me how hungry they were.
Anyways, the food was ok. Some dishes were pretty good. Small portions. Prices not bad. But for Thai food, I’ll be going to Thai Thai from now on. They are...
Read moreMap of Thailand is a wonderful restaurant! We had dinner there this past Friday night. We ordered the Som Tum (Thai Style Papaya Salad), the Tom Yum Kung (Hot and Sour Lemon Grass Soup), the Seafood Coconut Soup, the Andaman Princess, the Thai Iced Tea, and the Mango Mousse Cake. Since they do not have wine there, we brought our own.
Map of Thailand is located in the vibrant Asiatown area of Cleveland. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and comfortable. We were warmly welcomed. The service was excellent throughout our time there. The food was wonderful! The ingredients were top quality. Everything was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Textures were consistently interesting, always enhancing the flavors. It was especially impressive that the seafood was so ideally cooked. In addition, everything was visually beautiful. (As it turns out, the owner/chef is also an artist.)
We had an opportunity to chat with the chef/owner a bit at the end of the meal. She is very charming, and she is clearly committed to making her restaurant something special for the people who come there.
Map of Thailand is outstanding in every aspect. We will be back as often as we can. We wish we lived closer than an hour away. Highly...
