I went with the pork chops, collard greens, and mac & cheese and this plate came with attitude.
Pork Chops was full of flavor and well cooked. The outside had a beautiful crust, almost like it challenged the oil and won. Inside? Still juicy, seasoned all the way through — not just salt and pepper, but something more. I'm sure they'll never tell. Whoever’s behind that pan knows how to layer flavor, not just fry meat.
Collard Greens had a deep, earthy, and slow-cooked like they had somewhere to be — but decided to stay a while. Not greasy nor bitter. Just bold greens that held their own on the plate. You could taste the time in them.
Mac & Cheese had no powdered cheese energy here. This was creamy, and rich — not just cheesy, but cheese-forward. Thick enough to hold shape, smooth enough to scoop easy. They understood the assignment.
This wasn’t comfort food — this was commanding food. No softness, no shortcuts. Just food that shows up and stands tall all on its own. And that say something because I'm a VERY, very picky eater. My appetite’s strict and choosy — I don’t just eat anything, and I definitely don’t hand out...
Read moreVery unfortunate for a new restaurant on the Westside. Wanted to give a “Soul Food” spot a chance. Very disappointed at the offerings on the menu for it to be a Soul Food place. Menu is only fried food items. I wanted some food that wasn’t fried but whatever. I ordered something simple hoping to be in and out. Quesadillas and fries. After 45 minutes I was literally 2 minutes from just leaving and letting them keep that $14. I ordered to go but waited inside and noticed the kitchen staff just chatting away. The 2 older ladies were pleasant but seemed to not know what was going on. When I received the food the quesadillas were average at most, the fries were hot. I didn’t receive condiments nor plastic ware with my order.
Management please double check your menu. There are misspellings and most offerings don’t describe what you’re getting. I noticed there are not any “dinners” like chicken and sides, etc. everything seems a la cart. The breakfast menu only has names of menu items and no descriptions. See...
Read moreWe came all the way from D.C. People told me to try This Place… After calling them several times and getting hung up on twice, we finally got through, placed and order but because we placed an order more then $25, I was asked to pay up front (But the sign said pay up front after 8pm, it was 7pm) anywho, we paid over $50 for our order and they totally messed our order up, forgot to give us an order of fries & yams, we asked for bbq sauce on the side of our wings, they put it on them, greens were void of seasoning and the pork chops were fried hard, hard (Moist Free Pork Chops) I didn’t even want to try and call back and tell them about the forgotten items because it took so long to get a hold of them...
