There aren't enough words in a review to rave about Hatfield's. It's definitely a Cleveland gem.
First, the owners are some of the most down to earth, kind, and good hearted people you'll ever meet. And that also makes them great to their employees (some of the things I've seen/heard them do for others shock me).
Second, the atmosphere is fun. It's a throwback to every knick knacker's dream but in the coolest way. Take the coolest and most interesting items your eccentric uncle or your grandma may have had -- well you'll find the at Hatfield's. I've been there no less than a few dozen times and I still catch myself finding new pieces/parts to the decor.
And finally -- and this is the best part -- it has hands down some of the best food you can get in Cleveland. I say "some" only because you can't really compare brisket to other cuisines (like pho or Mexican street tacos). But if American is what you're going for this is it. From burgers to ribs to brisket.
Hands down the brisket is the best. I don't know what sorcery they use to make it so dang good -- but that stuff is delicious.
And the Mac 'n Cheese -- it's like a sweet(ish) and bacon kind, which doesn't do it justice. All I know is when I come home with it, my 5 year old lights up because I brought home "Ms. Jamie's Mac n Cheese" and it's his favorite. (And he doesn't understand why mommy can't make "really good" Mac n Cheese 🤦🏻♀️).
If you're not a brisket person, get a burger, I forget the name, but my husband loves the one with the chili on top. It's pretty good -- but it'd be 3 meals for me lol!
Oh and if you're a breakfast person you should try the hillbilly benedict. It's delightful. I think the base is a corn fritter? (I'm not southern and had no idea what a corn fritter was before coming here -- but it's delicious!).
Anyway, if you've made it this far, you know how much I ❤️ Hatfield's. So what are you waiting for? Go see Ken, Jessica and the rest...
Read moreAtmosphere was nice, wasn’t not crowded at all nor was it dead. Just the right amount of people to be comfortable. Bartender Eric was Amazing, sociable & friendly, not to mention made my blueberry vodka & lemonade drink perfect, I didn’t have to ask for more vodka due to it being too weak as I usually do when I order this drink at other places and it was not too strong either. I ordered the FuedN burger with potato salad & baked beans as my side which turned out perfectly cooked and tasted delicious except for the potato salad, it sadly was the worst potato salad I’d ever tasted & as well as my bf tasted (I made him taste it so I didn’t think it was just me) it was watery, the texture was weird and extremely bland ☹️ Eric offered to get me another side and was extremely apologetic which I told him no worries it wasn’t his fault and he even went as far as to ask what about it I didn’t like so he could inform the cook to maybe in the future improve the taste of the potato salad. I even had questions for the upstairs they offer for rental for parties and he told me I could upstairs and check it out if I’d like so I did and let me tell you, it did not disappoint whatsoever I was actually very impressed and surprised how big it was upstairs, was not expecting what I had seen, was expecting something much much smaller. When I came back down and asked Eric a few questions about rental of the upstairs & what not it answered all of my questions that he could to the best of his knowledge. All around awesome bar, awesome food & hands down best bartender over in that...
Read moreChecked this place out on a recommendation for the Mac and cheese actually. The Mac is available as a side, as well as on a burger; so we did both. I have never had a burger of the like, but figured I'd try something new and the mac burger came out hot, and had a good balance of mac to burger ratio. I wouldn't get it again but it was filling and I'm happy I tried it once. The side of brown sugar bacon Mac was less appealing to our tastes, Luke warm, and a sweeter bacon than I hoped for (prefer savory), though this is a personal preference and I can see others liking this style had it been served hot.
As for the other side, we went with the fresh cut fries, which were completely dead, limp, and lifelessly cold. It was a good portion, that was a complete waste and to be honest, I was quite surprised it made it to a paying customer. For a Saturday lunch, the restaurant seemed well staffed and had several people in the kitchen area preparing food (including one of which being a slightly older gentlemen with longer grey hair and dressed with a white apron which I presumed to be the owner I had heard good things about; though they had maybe 3 tables and they all had already received their food.
Considering this operation is set up where you pay, seat yourself, then go grab your food when the name is called (I still tipped well, even before knowing I would be getting no service), I would expect all of the food to at least be warm. Noone asked how the food was, if they had I would have kept this review to myself and simply pointed out the room for...
