Lupi's Pizza Pies — Restaurant in Cleveland

I love this place, it reminds me a lot of something I would see back home in California by the beach. The purple wall and offbeat painting. (Look for the purple one with the tree and swing in it, I love it) the fake palm tree with the fairy lights. The staff is very cool. (Shout out to the wonderful employees that chased me down outside to return my wallet, super awesome it was cold and dark, thank you). The pizza is great. It's just a very cool relaxed vibe. Really, different from any place else here in Cleveland. If you haven't tried it yet it's a great place to come with a group, bring your softball team, or your kid's friends with you. Very delicious pizza here! I like to think of the pizza quality as lying in the crust, the sauce, and the topping/cheese flavors. I did a build your own veggie pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hand tossed crust was AMAZING! Crisp corn mealed outer crust with a soft bready inside. Dipped in a side sauce it was tasty enough to be a stand alone. The sauce is perfect. I don’t like sweeter sauces for pizza or pastas and this sauce was exactly to my liking. Just a little chunky with perfect tomato acidity with hints of garlic and Italian herbs. The cheese and toppings are good quality keeping the pizza super yummy and classy. Also, sometimes build your own pizzas can get bogged down and heavy and potentially make the crust soggy. We got above average number of toppings and it maintained its integrity well. They prep their toppings in a way that considers and handles added moisture.

On top of all this tastiness the service was fast, quality, and friendly. 10/10...

We have been to Lupi's many times and really enjoy their style of pizza. On today's visit, we saw a few things that concerned us that we haven't seen before. While we were sitting and waiting for our pizza to be prepared, we noticed one of the employees shaking a rug vigorously near where the food was prepared. Since I have pretty bad allergies, it concerned me that dust would be flying in the air and the potential for it to be on our pizza. The same employee then did the same thing for two rugs that were at the front doors and then rolled them up and sat them aside. Once again the thought of dust flying in the air wasn't a good thought when trying to eat our pizza. We thought it was odd to remove the rugs since it was raining outside and someone could potentially slip and fall. The worst of it was that the same person delivered our pizza, plates, silverware and marinara to our table without any sign of them washing their hands. This was about 2 hours before...
