I’ve been going to this bakery for years. Today I asked for a bar of white cake with the orange flower. The very young girl packed banana nut bar cake with the orange flower. No big deal, I call the bakery (I have diverticulitis, so I can’t have nuts) When I explain to the young lady over the phone what happened she put me on hold and when she came back she told me “if you can’t have nuts in your house give the cake to a neighbor” I tried to explain again I just wanted a piece of white cake. She put me on hold again and the grown woman that got on the line and shamed me, she said “if your calling to get your 3.00 back come get it but it’s not our responsibility to know you can’t have nuts” I told her I asked for the white cake and she said that all that means is the frosting is white.. Now, I just worked a 10 hour shift. I’m starving, I’ve been Christmas shopping and budgeting groceries all month, I just want a piece of cake for myself to unwind. I was so offended and overwhelmed I wanted to cry. She gaslit me about how to order cake. And acted like I was trying to get something for free..

I spent 24.00 there today On kolache cookies and parfaits for my kids and white cake for myself... I wasn’t asking for anything for free. I just wanted a piece of cake that I could enjoy without getting diverticulitis flareup.. I hate to say that I won’t go to Michael’s bakery again because that’s my local bakery, but I can’t believe how I was treated today.. Horrible customer service. Very rude and in-compassionate..

Keep your white cake MB and your 3.00 I’ll go to Colozzas ..

Btw “White Cake” means white cake not white...

I grew up on Tate Ave, one street over. My gramma raised me. One of the ladies who worked at Michael's Bakery lived 3 houses down from us. We called her "Losti". I'm sure she.has passed by now I was just a little girl and now 63. We used to go to this bakery every morning and get their crumbs and small pieces frrom the bread slicer from bread that had been sliced for the birds. My gramma a always got breads & pastries here and oh my goodness I've been wanting to go back to the old neighborhood ever since. I can still smell all the good things being made❤🙂👍

Also. A co-worker every year brought in a half white & half chocolate sheet cake with whipped cream frosting which was absolutely to die for! I am definitely going to go back and get some breads and pastries! I've never seen so many POSITIVE reviews anywhere else around. AND AS FAR AS THE VERY VERY SMALL NUMBER OF OTHER REVIEWS,TRY AGAIN. I THINK YOUR...

In the past six years, one cake was what I ordered. The other five years had nearly 50% plus of what I ordered (lots of flowers, round torte with apricot filling and sliced almonds on the outside trim of the cake, "Happy Birthday, Cathy" on it, and flower color can be whatever unless they specifically say "tell what specific colors as it is easier for the decorators") were missing. I got blamed because I put a cake order near Mother's Day (we celebrate Mother's Day because I was born on Mother's Day and combo it with Mother's day; two birds one stone mentality to it) and they were very busy for suddenly deemed "complex" order, yet ordering I was told it was simple and takes no time at all as it did in the past.

If it's a bad time, then say it, I have had it done in the past and waiting out 7-10 days for a tasty cake sucks, but it makes it more worth...

Another hidden treasure in Cleveland you need to check out. I've never been there and it's been there since 1974, 51 years. Very basic simple decor why you are there is what stands out above everything else. Breads and pastries and cookies just really really good stuff. Of course I'm just talking about looks cuz I've never eaten anything from there until now. I was looking for the old fashioned pecan roll like cupcakes to make and I can't find anybody close. But talking to them earlier in the day I found out they did have a Danish with pecans and cinnamon so I figured I'd give it a try. Not what I was looking for but what we had was good and I would recommend it anybody looking for a Danish ring. But when I walked in the door and back out the door I already had in my mind I'll be back. You really need to check it out.

Are you looking for the most tender, flaky, delicious Danishs in Cleveland? Michael's Bakery and Deli on Broadview in Old Brooklyn is my choice. They are probably the only bakery around that still makes Danish, French, and other pastries from scratch, folding in butter to the pastry dough like your Grandma, Oma, Baba, Nonna would have done. And their muffins? Super moist and flavorful. We took home raspberry danish, basket danish with one side cheese and the other apricot, muffins, and Ukranian Sliced Sourdough bread (some danish and muffins may not have actually made it home). You can pick up a Sub sandwich from the deli while you are there as well. I urge you to take the time to make a trip to Michael's, you will not be dissapointed.

My husband bought me a cake for my birthday from Michael’s. It was supposed to be yellow cake with fudge frosting, which is my favorite. The writing was a little wonky, but not that big of a deal. I was extremely disappointed when we cut into the cake. I don’t know how a professional bakery has layers so inconsistent. I, as an amateur, hand cutting the cakes into layers would have had more even layers. The cake itself was dense, maybe due to requiring refrigeration as the borders were whipped cream. I did not finish my slice. I would not order another cake from Michael’s due to the quality. My husband also got the pepperoni roll and really liked it.
