Unfortunately, this ranking system won’t allow me to give zero stars. As a former Chef with Hilton and others, I must say that I don’t have great expectations from most of the restaurants in the Cleveland, Ga. area, but some are worse than others. This establishment is one of those that are worse.
I have to be honest here, I have been to this establishment multiple times due to a perceived lack of options in the area, and each time it gets worse and worse. I kept returning, simply because there was no option. Until now. More on that in a second.
The meal tonight…. No flavor to the Fried Rice or Lo Mein Would have liked to see some pork in the pork fried rice The Satay Chicken required the muscles of the Hulk to get it off the sticks Asked for Lemons for the sickeningly sweet tea, and that was just too much for them. In addition, is the very disgusting condition of the kitchen. I peered in after I was finished eating to grab the server and WOW!
Let’s just say if I had looked first, I would have insisted that we leave and go to Helen.
Upon paying, the “owner?”, asked his normal question, How was it?
I was honest and polite with him and was told by him that I did not need to return.
We won’t. It’s sad enough that this was the option we have, but as I mentioned, it’s no longer the only option.
Spice 55 in Helen is Thai, new and it’s great. I can not stress enough, how the trip to Helen is worth it.
I would highly recommend avoiding the Sunflower, and if Thai food is not your thing, then head south to the Alpharetta/Buford area and there are multiple choices for...
Read moreI ordered take out today. I ordered sesame chicken because the picture on the menu showed that it came with broccoli (you can check out the picture of the menu on the website), fried rice, hot and sour soup (medium), and 2 egg rolls. This one meal cost $20!!!! Insane. What's really bad is that the sesame chicken did NOT come with broccoli as advertised, the fried rice was merely white rice with soy sauce- no onions, carrots, peas, ...anything- just bland rice. The egg rolls were $3.50 for 2 and they were not even that big- but the main issue was that they were dripping in grease. And the sweet and sour soup had barely any taste and a rare piece of tofu and other ingredients. This is by far the worst Chinese food that I have ever had. I did call the restaurant and let them know of my thoughts and experience. I did suggest editing their menu as it falsly advertises their food. I also made them aware of the unsatisfactory taste. The man never offered a refund or any other compensation. The man at the front was nice and did give me a tea as I waited approximately 15 minutes for this meal to be brought to me. I do feel that the wait was excessived to the fact that I am sure the soup was pre-made as well as the chicken. Also, the restaurant was empty excluding one lady that was waiting on an order of chicken fried rice. I would definitely NOT recommend...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. My recent experience at Chinese Restaurant Sunflower in Cleveland, GA, was truly disappointing.
First, the food quality was shockingly poor. The soup came out cold, and both my daughter’s and my meals were also cold and clearly undercooked. The beef and steak dishes had an off-putting gritty, almost smoochy texture, and the vegetables were so hard it was like they’d barely seen heat. It all felt rushed and thrown together with no care.
When I mentioned the cold soup to our waitress, her response was to say, “I don’t make the soup, and I don’t know when it was made.” I wasn’t looking for an excuse – just wanted it heated up. We barely touched our food and finally decided to ask for the check and leave.
When I brought the issues to the attention of the cook or manager (whoever was in charge), she basically threw the check back at me and told me to just leave. I wanted to pay in full but left feeling deeply disappointed, especially considering I’ve been a loyal customer, spending around $500 here every New Year’s.
It’s sad to see a place I once trusted treat us so poorly. The restaurant was empty – and now I understand why. I...
