Illusions Banquet Hall and Sports Bar — Restaurant in Clifton Heights

Let me start by saying this whole place is horrible , me and my coworkers / gfs experience was bad , when we walked in to illusions bar section the bartender greeted us and we asked about food and hookah she told us we can order hookah at the bar but food had to be order next door at I GOT THE JUICE ! Witch was fine cuz I knew I liked the food since I visited the place when they were located on long lane (I support small blackness ) but the worker attitude wasnt friendly and didn't greet me and my friends as I wasn't a new face but when the owner saw me he did greet me he knew who I was sad to say I never went back cuz I just felt like the service wasn't what I expected when I go into a small black business I expect to be greeted with hi atlease , she wasn't welcoming at all well same thing happen over this place his waitress/ cashier / cook / girlfriend ( maybe )was not nice at all and took our orders without greeting us or having any change in the register and wrote out a i owe u on a receipt witch I think was kinda odd since we was drinking a could possibly forget she owe us money (prolly what she wanted ) anyways when I placed my order I also place a to go order to take home to my bf and she told me to let her know 15 to 20 min prior to use leaving so she can get the food started witch made since cuz I wanted it to be hot for him when I got home well I told the owner to tell her since she was making other orders and never came back up front to ask us if we needed anything after waiting for our food for almost a hour she never came back not once to offer us non alcoholic drinks we was so thirsty we wanted a cold beverage, so when she finally came up we asked for juice she gave us the drinks then went back mind u I already told the owner to tell her to put the food on he said he did we thought they forgot that how long it took we waited about 25 min for her to come back to the front and tell me that my food was up next ! Huh up next hold up lol I'm thinking to myself how come my food up next after 30 min of us waiting for u to put it on she said ppl made other orders and I had to wait till she was finished with those orders witch was phone order cuz The place wasn't busy at all smh but I paid for my food sis my food is paid for my food should be on right now , u have my money in ur register , I placed my order a hour and half ago sis so waiting wasn't a option for me anymore so I told the owner I couldn't wait and wanted my money back he talked really fast while he was walking away from me (rudely)and said she just put it on ! YEAH RIGHT SIR !no thanks I want my money back so he finally came a gave me my money but NEVER apologized , they put my food last cuz his friends came in and he wanted to serve them and give them better customer service cuz they waited no time for food . We never got our hookah but when we was leaving we saw the man setting up hookah for the owners friends , how sway? 🤔 We are not cheap girls we don't mind spending money at a nice place to have good fun but this place was horrible service I had to order from bottoms up 215 on island ave and waste gas all cuz of I GOT THE JUICE BAD SERVICE ! Bottoms up had wonderful service and the salmon cheesesteak was a whole roll with with large shrimp laid on top worth every bit of my 20 dollars I was satisfied with that oh and yea my gf almost forgot her I owe u we had to ask her 3 time before she finally gave her change back we did not leave a tip to that horrible waitress/cashier/cook they need major help the two of them can't give great service alone the food was good but potions was not . Half of salmon steak with fries 11 I'd rather pay 18 to 20 bucks for a whole roll ! and salmon was weak inside mainly peppers but the taste was good that my gf did say but all in all we won't be back and it's sad cuz we wanted to like this place close to our business and we like to support but we will NOT !!!!!! I never wrote a review but this been on my mind since I left yesterday I will not recommend this...

Do not use this place for their catering or banquet hall services! They will charge full prices of course with poor communication and terrible customer service. My family bkd this place for a reception with full catering services. I should say the food was good but the entire experience was horrible. Our guest were told to bring the decorative plates from the table to receive food. Full catering should come with plates and utensils correct? I was told this is how they were keeping track of how many people they served. Couldn’t the same had been done with plates provided by them. While setting up we were constantly reminded what NOT to do or strongly encouraged to do things their way for no real reason. We paid for a cash bar and our guests were being told how much money was left to be used. Hookahs were expensive and we were told about a hookah attendant fee literally the day before. We should have been given (in my opinion) a contact person to call for any questions and concerns we may have had. Instead we reached out to multiple people who in return gave attitudes and were very nonchalant. The managers daughter was referred to us for renting decorating items. We decided to rent a few items and decorate ourselves. I believe this was a problem for her. I was showed some centerpieces and pictures of another that she said she would make. As we got closer to our date I wanted to see the final piece in our colors and all I got was a lot of attitude. I was passed off to a relative as if she didn’t want to deal with me directly. I addressed my concerns to the manager however they’re all family so any concerns escalated were addressed with excuses. I couldn’t get a pair of scissors, tape or a long lighter while setting up(which was ok it’s not their responsibility to have those things for me) however, I received PLENTY of help packing things up. The event was scheduled to end at 9pm things were being taken off the table at 7:30p. I will take responsibility for assuming or thinking full catering meant just that. I thought maybe Ice water would be served at the tables and that plates and utensils would be available. We paid for them to control the small food portions while we stood in line with our own plates for food we paid for. I purchased bar napkins to be used at the bar. They were being used at the food station. We could have had family stand and serve. That service was not worth the price. I get that events have to have order but they caused confusion and even showed slight frustration when we didn’t do exactly what they wanted during our event. I was followed multiple times around the party (by the manager)and asked to do this or that. We spent thousands! No consideration was given for me to actually enjoy myself as well. We should have been asked if we wanted to use our plates or theirs. Our guest shouldn’t have been sent to find a plate from a table. No extra utensils were offered. Full catering also meant being served by their family nobody was dressed for the occasion. The manager literally had jeans on. No effort was put into our day going smoothly. The manager hounds u and try’s to control even small things that didn’t need her input. A lot of push back was made about allowing us to come in to decorate the day before. Eventually we were allowed. But we were told it was going to be an event the nite before. That was not true! They made things very difficult for us just because they could. The manages daughter (daveon) attitude was horrible she shouldn’t be recommended for any decorating needs. Overall I was not satisfied with how we were handled by this establishment.

Update: After posting this review I received a very unprofessional text msg from the managers daughter regarding my review. Insulting my work and also the bride and groom’s budget. Suggesting had they had a bigger budget it would have been better. Again this place isn’t the place to use for any special event. Horrible experience and horrible...

Bring your own to go bags smh. The food was just OK. We came here for the Sunday gospel brunch. For 35 dollars you don’t get much food. The wing platter comes with 3 wings and small portions for the sides. The turkey wing platter had just one medium wing. They are definitely saving money on take away containers because there is nothing left. In addition to that you have to pay for juice smh. My mother made a mistake when ordering and apologized for her mistake. The waitress was very rude and began to argue with my mother until my mother shut down her egregious behavior. She then had someone make an announcement in reference to the incident. This was very unprofessional. There was one waitress who went above and beyond and I thank her for that. This place got us. They made 215 from the 6 in our group. We will NEVER...
