Alright time for an unhyped review of this place from someone who has smash burgers from all around the tri-state area.
The burgers are not made to order it’s very deceitful that every silly influencer you see that goes to this place you see them making these burgers fresh everything fresh. LIES I told my wife to get us drinks from next door because they don’t have Coke Zero. Before she even got up our food was ready…red flag!. It takes 3 minutes to make smash burgers fresh why would this establishment settle for these DRY and I mean SAHARA dry patties that have clearly been sitting in a ready bin that were made hours ago…all the juices and life has left the patties. The beef bacon which me and my wife don’t eat pork so we thought this would be fantastic and I could tell that when they were fresh? Absolutely those would have been top tier crunchy pieces of beef bacon. But no we got rubbery stab you in the throat, hard not crispy. HARD beef bacon. Long story less long if this place would just spend 5 minutes and I mean five minutes to make their food to order this place would possibly be a 8/10. But no it’s a 0.5/10 cause for 45$ you could at least reheat the meat my lord it came out fast and it was cold and dry?!?!?!.
My other issues is there was a crowd in the spot that was extremely loud which I’m from Jersey I don’t care about that but their idea to fix that was pump the stupid music up to 500% which made the damn crowd talk louder!!! Like cmon guys id rather hear people talking having fun then Justin Bieber at 500% making my ears bleed. I deduct that .5 for that. So 0/10 for this place.
All in all if you want SUPER DRY cold smash burgers for 45$ head on down to slap burgers Clifton don’t let the influencers fool you on this one..goto five guys pay less and be happier. This place is pretty awful. I’m surprised at all the 5 star reviews they must have never had smash burgers from a decent place....
Read moreOriginal 07/20/2024 Waited close to an hour, and they misplaced my order. No apologies, no nothing, just handed me cash back. I wanted to support a halal spot close by so I am keeping the review at 3 stars, but they have to get their act together. Avoid until they learn to manage a kitchen. Can't comment on food since I didn't get any.
(Edited 07/22/2024) Ordered pickup on 07/21/24. Fries: They were soggy, but that's expected when you take fries to go. Otherwise, they were average, there's no special seasoning, Maybe add some seasoning like Saj.
Burger: Buns were toasted on the outside but not inside. Patty lacked salt and pepper. Crust was just burnt not flavorful and meat tasted to be on the leaner mix. Sauce was decent. Cheese was melted. Please use fattier meat and add salt and pepper.
RESPONSE TO OWNER RESPONSE: Brother, I waited for close to an hour, and I am not lying about that. Wallahi I went right after Magrib and left just before Isha. I asked the kids in the front where my order was multiple times throughout waiting. You had ten workers in the back. About 4 of them were just standing around. My order number was 26 finally when all orders around me were taken and people had come after me and gone with their orders and the orders cycled back to 6, I asked again. "I had come after Magrib, and it's almost isha. What's taking so long? Do I need to get a refund?" The kid ran to the back and came and asked for my receipt. Then he came back with money in hand and did not apologize for the mix-up or anything. It was your grand opening, so I didn't argue and left, but it's all the more reason you should have had adults handing out the orders and handling customers. Especially when you have men loitering in the back. Please use the kids as runners and cleaners, not for handing out orders and talking to customers. Still...
Read moreYou really can't beat their UberEats deal, 2 burgers for only $6 here, especially if you're picking up and not paying delivery fees.
They are a decent enough size, tastes great, very consistent "triple smashed" style burgers. I've eaten from here many times with my partner and fam now, first time ordering alone and so satisfied. Fries go pretty well with the Mac & cheese, or slapsauce. Burgers and fries are perfect alone really, I think the only improvement I could hope for with the platter pictured below is a white cheddar mac instead, but it's decent enough.
The real selling point for this Slapburger location in Clifton is the late hours. You guys are a GODSEND for us working nightshift.
I think really my only letdown here ever has been the chicken sandwich, i can't recommend it. Which is surprising because the Chicken Tenders are REALLY good! I'd buy the tenders a lot more if I could get them individually. They're only sold together with other items, like fries/mac, etc
Eating inside can be hit or miss, I usually always pickup the food and go. They're very busy so orders can take awhile if you're sitting down. And the busy crowd can make it a little loud so. Still, GREAT service, GREAT staff, Above and Beyond burger spot I hope to come back to at least every month once or twice. So far, my family have made me come back much more frequently than that lol
One note: don't expect the same quality and service from the Paterson location not far from here, I've only heard bad things? Not bothering to try myself since the Clifton location is so close to rt. 3, VERY convenient to travel to &...
