This was my first time in there since it was known as Frills. Boy has it changed atmospherically. The quality of the food has not changed; it's still quite good, and the price comparative to other establishments is still remarkably favorable, but this place is just not the same. First of all, don't believe that outside sign. The sign depicted Troops as selling burgers, Texas Weiners, and a few other things. Disregard it! The menu apparently has diminished down to primarily just subs. They're still good, but the overall atmosphere inside has changed. It's pretty much a race to get your order in, prepare it, and get on to the next customer. The head counter man seemed to be a bit nervous and anxious, but he did take pains to make sure he was getting the customers' orders correct, which he did. It just felt like I was being rushed. I like the place, but without the burgers and dogs options, I just don't feel comfortable.

Troops is phenomenal. You won't find a cheaper deal for a good sandwich. The place itself doesn't come with frills. It might look questionable from both the outside and once you're inside, but give it a shot! The owner was friendly and asked us many questions, as we were traveling. We were amazed by the size of the sandwiches. A half order is seriously plenty. It's a typical Jersey style sub for sure, with super thinly sliced meat. Troops is an experience in and of itself, and you'll get a great sandwich for a great deal! Oh, and free lollipops!

The food and the people were both great. The place itself and the overall vibe/environment took away from the experience in my opinion. I ordered the tuna, as it came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. It was fresh, delicious, and also cheap. Sandwiches these days will typically run you $12-15 but this was $6 and change I believe. I’d trust Troops to absolutely nail it on any simple sandwich.

Let me start off on a positive, the food there isn't bad,and the prices are cheap. So what's the problem? The owner is extremely rude, if you don't want to read my story, the tldr is he kicked me out becuase I didn't order my food Loud enough. Wierd I know I've been there a total of 3 times and from my first visit I could tell the owner, for some reason, didn't like me, Idk why. First two times I ordered things were weird, he was very indifferent and rude, he didn't look at me much and I didn't mind. I have a high tolerance for bad customer service as long as I get serviced, and I did, I got the food both times. Third time I stop by I greeted him, he greeted me, I sit down, but I don't order. 1 minute later he yells from over the counter how he can help me, I respond "a hamburger." he couldn't hear me so I said it louder and still nothing, I got up walked to the counter and ordered, "a hamburger" and his response was, "see you gotta speak louder so I can hear you like this!" I responded "right" which I guess is what ticked him off enough to yell at me and say to pick up my stuff and leave becuase "I don't want you here" I was pretty confused, since I knew the guy was odd but to kick me out because he couldn't hear me? Maybe he was having a bad day, although it looked like how he was everyday I've been there, maybe it was just me, either way if you come here just order quickly and loudly, as to not risk a temper...

Been getting subs here since this place was Frills, so I know a bit about the place. Subs are still good. Place is kinda dirty. Owner is a total oddball. Every time I go in he just gets odder and odder. When I walked in today for two subs to go, he was talking to the kid who works for him, who was in the back with him cleaning up. He was looking at the kid, in a totally different direction than where I was, and in mid sentence to the kid he says, can I help you? I hear him but can't imagine why he wouldn't look at the person he is addressing. After a four or five second pause, while he is still looking at the kid, I said, are you talking to me? He says no, I'm talking to the guy who came in behind you! There was nobody behind me. I said that in this country, people who speak English normally look at the person they are speaking to unless they are ignorant or rude. This didn't get a response. Nobody said anything for a few seconds. So I order a ham, salami and provolone sub. He says, I don't have any bologna, I said I didn't order any bologna. This went on two more times until the kid told him I didn't order bologna, but a number one sub. I got the sub and left. Subs are good, guy is a complete wacko! Just nuts! Keeps complaining that Jersey Mikes stole his sub...

Troops has deteriorated over the years- I used to come here with my friends in middle school (about 15 years ago) and looked forward to a half day at school and eating lunch at Troops. Food was delicious.. As I moved away for college and moved back home, I would pass by and reminisce & wanted to go back to see if it had the same authenticity I remembered. But before I could even do that, I had a horrible experience with the owner. I parked in the lot next to Troops, but I was going to Henry’s next door. I understand there’s parking signs but the lot was completely empty and there was no parking elsewhere. I wasn’t taking away from any potential customers or hindering his business. The owner came outside, yelled at me about where I was parked, and I apologized and said there was no where to park. As I was getting into my car to leave, he proceeded to take a picture of my license plate- and my car. I felt extremely unsafe and violated as I was alone. There was no need to go to such measures. Little does this man know what nostalgia he ruined for me by his ignorance. I will not be visiting Troops ever again unless it’s under...
