We went to Ark Mediterranean for lunch on a weekday. There were people at a few other tables, but the place was definitely not busy. The friendly waitress/cashier took our order, and read it back to us to confirm. I ordered the lamb kebab and my wife ordered chicken Lula kebab. The food came out surprisingly quickly. Each platter came with a salad and hummus. The lamb was reasonably tender and cooked to medium 'doneness'. I like my lamb extra rare, but most folks prefer medium, so job well done to the cook. The lamb was tasty, as was the pilaf, but the star of the platter was the hummus, very rich, smooth, creamy and slightly tangy. My wife's chicken lulal kebab was also well cooked and well seasoned. A touch of salt Zinged it right up. The bill, with tip, approached $50, quite a bit more than I usually spend on lunch. The place has a fast food vibe, decor and atmosphere, but the price leans towards fine dining. On the other hand, the portions are generous and the flavours are good, and best of all, upon request they will give you clear covers that snap onto the platter the food arrived on... and the generous portions become a happy...
Read moreMy husband and I had them yesterday. He order the beef gyro and I had the lamb chops. They gyro was ok nice flavor but way too crispy almost too dry. Not sure if it’s due to he heat being turned up too high or from them being on heat way too long. The lamb chops were very tender even with me ordering them well done. Which I very much appreciated, but they definitely lacked in flavor. I’m not sure why it’s such a big deal for them to also charge for condiments either especially with the food not having a lot of flavor. I was highly disappointed in that ... I paid $20 for lamp chops and you expect me to eat them dry? The audacity! I loved the freshness of the salad, the pita bread was weird ( very thin and hard). The hot sauce was different not a good taste by itself. Overall I’ll give them a three because the freshness of the salad I really loved and if you get their “cucumber” sauce and hot sauce and eat everything together it compliments. Overall, I would eat there again it wasn’t bad I’ve just had way better but with the lack of good food places in Fresno there’s not much to choose from...
Read moreI tried this location last night and I'm sorry I did. I paid $25.80 for the Salmon Plate and asked if on the salad I could get more cucumbers than tomatoes because I don't like them. Of course the guy who took my order told me the salad was mixed and would try to give me more cucumbers, well that didn't happen. I felt they were bring petty because I had way more tomatoes than cucumbers. I asked if that was the best they could do and in his nasty tone, he said "yes, that's the best they could do....just not nice! Also, some of the rice pilaf was dried out and hard.
While I know the salad is a mixture of tomatoes and cucumbers, you would think they could've accommodated my request, it's a small portion of the plate. Not a goid look that they are not flexible or willing to accommodate such a small and insignificant request. Perhaps their employees need some additional training on how to treat customers. There are plenty of Mediterranean restaurants in Fresno, so I'm sure I can find another one, with...
