Taco Box — Restaurant in Clovis

What was once a Clovis staple is now an overpriced, lukewarm, and mediocre experience.

I have really fond memories of Taco Box throughout my life as a Clovis resident. Years after I left, the food was comparable in price with other fast food places and not anything special, but nostalgic. Frijole burritos and spanish fries have always been my staple as it was cheap and delicious in it's own way.

I've brought many people to Clovis and no one has ever been amazed by this place. You don't come for the culinary expertise, you come cause it's hometown food from a hometown business.

But this time.... I came and paid 9 DOLLARS for two tiny burritos, Spanish fries, and a medium drink. 9 DOLLARS. That's absurd. When I got my food (in fact, the past 5 times I've been back here), it's cold.

I'm not sure why the residents of Clovis are paying these prices and keeping this place in business when they can easily make 20 frijole burritos, 3 pounds of spanish fries and gallons of soda at home for 9 dollars.

Clovis should boycott them until they figure out how to get that 'hometown charm' and warm food to its customers. Not like I, one person, who comes to Clovis once a year is going to make any sort of difference.... but those who live in town shouldn't have to...

I won a jar of their salsa on the radio, which was awesome but when I went to go pick it up the manager looked at the certificate looked me up and down and said "The contest is tomorrow..." I told her "No... they had it today." She was completely rude didn't answer me and went to call the radio station to "confirm" that I wasn't making it up. Oh yeah I totally made and printed off my own fake certificate to get ONE jar of your salsa seems completely legit. She didn't say much when it was "confirmed" that it was real and I had won the salsa. When I asked about a cheeseburger coupon I also had she said "You can only use one coupon for each purchase." I just said "okay" because at this point I was completely over it. I'm surprised at all the 5 star ratings considering every person I talk to says they hate going inside because the staff and manager stares them down every time. Okay Food but EXTREMELY OVER PRICED!!! If I was not from here and wanted a clovis burrito experience, I would grab some allsups burritos for WAY LESS... the jalepeno peppers are the exact same as Der Wienerschnitzel, but Wienerschnitzel's are hotter and way cheaper, if its cheese sticks you want, you cannot beat Something Differents cheese sticks AT A WAY LOWER COST!!! The drinks at Taco Box are very good, But if your on a budget go to Sonics happy hour and buy 2 big drinks for the price of Taco Box's One!!! Oh and my favorite CHEESE QUESADILLA... go to Taco Villa for a way better one minus the outrageous cost!!! Plus the additional outrageous cost for guacamole or sour cream "for a little extra"!!!
