Very disappointed in the management and chef. My husband, two kids, and I come here once a month on business from Amarillo. My husband ordered the burger, but ordered it without American cheese. He asked the server if he could have feta on it instead. She said sure we have blue cheese dressing and feta crumbles. About five minutes later, the server comes back to tell us the “chef is not willing to put the feta cheese actually on the burger, but it will be on the side”. My husband said ok no problem. Another 5 minutes later, the server comes back and says, “the chef says the feta will have pesto in it, is that ok”? My husband said sure that’s fine. Another 5 minutes later, the male manager comes to us and says “we actually don’t have feta cheese here, we have mozzarella and that’s in our caprese salad”. My husband said, look just nevermind. No cheese. I asked after our meal for a menu- they have goat cheese as an option and didn’t offer it as a substitute. At the end of our meal, the server said they could offer us a free dessert of anything we wanted and said “the chef is just being rude because we do have feta cheese here. I don’t know what’s going on”.

Our server was kind and great. There is a huge issue here at hand though. Someone is lying and someone is not willing to replace our cheese. It’s simple!! Makes no sense to me with my own experience of 10 years in the service industry. We will never be back after the way the chef and manager acted. Not customer service at all.

I’d be willing to bet if we bought the surf and turf for two tonight, they would have given us the feta, but because it was a $16 burger, the chef was being petty and lazy. That’s not servitude.

In the future, we will skip The Rails and...

An excellent date night location in a town the desperately needs one, with cuisine that is just on the verge of being something special.

The ambience celebrates Clovis and its connection to the railroad, the service works, attentive wait staff and phone calls when your number is up. We were quoted for a 25 minute wait and ended up waiting 5 minutes. no frills table settings just silverware a napkin and salt and pepper.

The food is unique and flavorful, the chef is onto something and I look forward to the refinements on the menu in the future. I had the superchief yardbird, chicken masala curry disguised. It was excellent, the perfect amount of spicy and unique flavors that I haven’t experienced in Clovis. My wife had the tuna steak special with shrimp and pesto mash. The shrimp was seasoned exquisitely and the mash tasted handmade. The Tuna steak was serviceable but a bit tough for her liking. The rosemary is phenomenal, and it hits you with much flavor.

My complaints are with the portion sizing for price; my plate was 18 and the tuna steak was 32. The yardbird didn’t have much butter chicken and not a single drop of curry was wasted. My wife’s plate had a better showing with a generous amount of mash that had a pretty decent sized steak on it. we both left hungry.

Quite honestly though if pricy food is what we need to bring in more local businesses than I’m fully supportive. The Rails takes everything that makes Clovis a unique city and puts it on display for all to see. They deserve your business, and I hope the Rails will be the jump start the downtown area that is beaming with so...

Dinner was a total of $220 for two people. We ordered the tomahawk steak with two lobster tails special, spicy calamari, and creme brulee. To start with the calamari had no flavor to it much less being "spicy" and it was chewy. Then came the lobster which was tough, overcooked, and warm at best. The steak had large amounts of fat, it was tough, and it was not medium. The fries and the mashed potatoes were the only quality food of this experience, I mean the fries seriously may have been the best fries I have ever had in my life.

Service-wise there were 5 tables of people in the entire place and a number of wait staff, but I think we only saw her three times. The best service came from the bus boy who was the one who brought us water, took places, got refills, and brought us to go boxes. I didn't leave the waitress a great tip because her service was terrible, but as we were leaving I was looking for the busboy to give him $50 cause of his hard work.

The atmosphere, the place could be an elegant experience, but when the staff turns on the fan and openly say, "its to keep the flies away from your food" and you turn it off so it doesn't make the already lukewarm food colder. Ditch the fans, get rid of the flies, and turn down the train noises constantly coming from...

Shared a Friday night dinner with my boyfriend while visiting Clovis. Our local friends recommended The Rails as a new and delicious place to eat. Atmosphere and service was wonderful. It was fun to watch the freight trains fly past this historic rail station. Food was the only let down during our visit. It was obviously prepped ahead of time like a hotel catering model because we were not given the option to choose our steak temps, and food was delivered under plastic cloches. Flavor on all the food was good, including seasoning. But my boyfriend’s steak was unevenly cooked and grey in some places. My red snapper was over cooked and rubbery. Desserts were also a miss: the crème brule had way too much gelatin and no crispy sugar shell, and the key lime pie was a tart and not made in house. Felt more like a fast casual or catered dining spot as opposed to a fine dining spot as they advertise on their web site. It was over priced for the quality of food ($130 for 2 entrees & 2 desserts), especially in Clovis. Go for the experience, not necessarily the food.

Just what Clovis needed for a wonderful date night with your loved one. The atmosphere was perfect, service was good, and the food what different from anything offered in Clovis. ALL dishes were visibly beautiful! The arancini was incredible! I highly recommend them. The tuna tartare was ok. My husband ordered the crispy duck breast, Mashed Potatoes, and asparagus, I had the truffle fettuccine with blackened shrimp. The skin on the duck wasn't as crispy as I expected, but a little bit of everything on one bite was delicious. The shrimp on my fettuccine was good, but I think the dish needed more parmesan. The berry creme Brulee didn't have that crack when tapped, but the honeycomb added a nice bitter taste and some crunchy texture. The key lime pie was what one would expect. We sat on the outside patio and there was a thunderstorm, they closed the shades and it was very romantic. Will definitely be back, since I heard the menus are supposed to change. Hoping I get to try the shrimp and grits next time!

The Rails, where have you been all my travels? This is THE local gem. I'm actually furious I didn't find it earlier in my time in Clovis. I was beginning to get very depressed on this business trip here. But now, I'm actually smiling! The wine list is perfection, and very reasonably priced (hi, Austin Hope way out here! Paso deliciously representing here!). Needless to say, the food is delicious. A++++. Best food in Clovis, and the only place to get wine. I only snapped a picture of the coconut cheesecake, which is just how like cheesecake - a little chunky, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced. I will be here every single night for dinner, and I hear they have brunch on Sundays. The building is a beautiful historic building dating back to 1907 - the oldest in Clovis. The bar is also beautifully designed, it is really such a pleasure to be here. The service really can't be beat either, everyone has checked in on me. I feel so special!
